Brian I've had it for awhile. Just something that I right clicked along the way. Tigges car did that in '97 at a night show up there. I was talking with Steve today that was on Ed's crew at the time they never really found a solid reason why that happen but, they believe that the belt broke first and it took off the fuel lines and shattered the cap on the mag 44 which lit the fuel.

I tell people about that explosion all the time. He HAD to have had pop in the tank on that run (it was an alky f/c). You ever seen an alky car blow up like that before?

It was Charlie Gambino's car. For the rest of the weekend we called him Charlie GamBLAMO. ;D

Couldn't say it over the PA, but we were all convinced he had "spiked" the fuel for that run (last quailfier...not in...towed all the way from Florida....you get the picture)

It was actually Ed's car the Charlie drove. That was the only race for that body for obvious reasons ;D Billy drove down to the Cape that night and grabbed the Vette body for Sunday

pic taken in '96 at a car show that had a burnout demonstration (88 skylark,jegs chassis and a 377 on the bottle)...my friend did the burnout, built a lot of tirespeed and about 60 feet out ,the car swayed,and SLOWLY flipped on its lid...


needed a roof clip,a back and front wheel and a drivers door...it was then repainted blue...

i did NOT build this, my buddy mark from ohio built it for me back in 99 (as a surprise gift!)....note the huge cowl hood which he hand made...

up to '87 then it stoped do to ummmm ya oh street racing burn outs and tons of money being spent in the town
my window on my truck used to have all the entry decals

above the reggie this was later after I took a bunch off do to room

The body blowing off was good in that the fire "blew out" rather quick. Charlie wound up with light burns on his hands and a headache that wouldn't quit.

The body blowing off was good in that the fire "blew out" rather quick. Charlie wound up with light burns on his hands and a headache that wouldn't quit.

I remember walking up to that sight like it was yesterday! Sweet mother of mercy that was a boomer. There were fans asking for shards of the body!
