Hardly a new concept, opposed piston engines, that one uses the single crank long connecting rod approach. Even looks like it's either a diesel or a SIDI gasoline motor.
I think he meant (I do) that the interesting part goes beyond the opposed thing. Looks like 2 pistons in each end of each bore with radically different rod lengths
;DYup sure was. This car is one of two or three ever made by Chrysler. Some companys made repicas and they were raced throughout the 70s and 80s. The cool thing about this car is that it still has the original Hemi that they built it with. This motor was built for #43 Richard Petty when he went drag racing in the mid 60s and then he sent the motor back to them and it sat around untill this car was built as a prototype and then they rebuilt it and put it in this car. This has been verified by the two guys that were in charge of this project at mopar.
Sorry to ramble ,I just think its a cool story and I love old race car history.
You nailed my next project, looking for a good cheap local car as a starting point now.
Ummmm... this site has a place for comments like that.. ;D. Its the "projects" side and you can (please) post all the pics ya want of that build....eh? :D :D
