    So far, the "Yes" and I have no idea" categories are running pretty much neck-in-neck, with the "No" just a bit behind either one. Interesting.

      Wind and solar power need backups. Eg build a 5mw wind turbine you need a 5mw back up for when the wind doesn't blow. One new technology is to use wind/solar to power compressors and store the air in the earth, inject it into the ground/rock etc. Then release it to power a turbine to make electricity. Yea, scifi stuff, it will make earthquakes and turn into a very bad movie on the SciFi channel.

        Wind and solar will probably not be a big enough part of total electricity production to need any more backup than can be had simply by being on the grid.
