I don't get it how come in Australia I can drive my pre 1983 vechicles that have an exhaust note of up to 96db any where i want anmd yet when i drive my 1998 ss around with an exhaust note of 96 db I get busted because its 6 db over the limit . I didnt realize that what ever is going deaf 500mm away from the end of my exhaust knew the difference between the ages of my vechicles.(guessw who got busted by the epa today)

get some steelwool
stuff it up both pipes past the first bend.. drill a little hole.. and screw a (whatever sized pipe it is/i.e. 2.5 pipe, 2.5 sheetrock screw.
this holds the wool from blowing out..
take car to police station.. and ask them to test the dp. per the law..
it'll be quite enough.. have them note the ticket..and even if the fix the ticket you want a copy..
incase you get stopped again.. you can show the officer that it passes..
and the go home.. and unscrew the screws and start it.. and rap the gas..
they'll come right out..
just make the screw holes in the pipe somewhere that isn't seen by a quick look under the car..
and your golden

I'm not sure in Oz, but here in the US people's hearing is only affected by newer vehicles. A curious phenomenon to be sure. I guess you could move to the Lake Gardnier area where only 'roos and such could hear you, but they are pretty good about not complaining as long as the sound does not come from a firearm aimed at them.

cool ford. really cool dually. you do know the steering wheel is on the 'wrong' side though... right? If it helps any.... I just yesterday got my license back after almost 6 wks of snail mail 'tween states......supposedly.....the computer.....says....I didn't pay a ticket back on Oct. 18 1980. in Illinios....I live in Ohio.....29 YEARS!!!??WTF......The local cops were very nice to notify me of this problem and yet not tow my car. but the second stop was a little more 'proffesional'.... no tow though. 284$ later and I'm legal again. Did you know that there is an amendment in the US Constitution allowing Harley-Davidson's to run open exhaust...Seriously...look it up............
