I'm overwhelmed by all of your kind responses. Guess I should know to expect that y'all would do the decent thing, but it's still sort of unexpected - and very cool.
I'd like to think I'm OK with the operation and basically I am, but to have someone accessing the inside of your eyeball is a weird thing. I'm reasonably confident in the doc (otherwise I'd go to Ann Arbor and have the same doc who did the last one) but I guess I'm not quite as cool a character as I'd like to think I am. Your prayers and/or PE are greatly appreciated and I'm thinking can't hurt.
Mary Ellen and her church buddies will be pulling for me (they claim that Episcopal prayers are more powerful but I don't know) and other non-car friends are in there pitching, too. None of this can be a bad thing.
