well, after a family discussion i am definitely going to the OHIO MILE. what started out in sept. as a personal achievement and a bucket list check off has gotten into my blood. how could i have set a little production record at the last MAXTON MILE and not try to set the first record in my class at the first OHIO MILE. what is the official name of the airfield where the track is located and has anyone contacted any motels close by and how expensive are the rates. i just need something clean and comfortable , does not have to be plush as i am just poor old retired georgia guy. garrell patterson
any tips?

thanks dan. after a family discussion i have decided that i am definitely headed to the OHIO MILE! i spent about three hours checking on availability, location and price for a double room. i got a king bed and a sofa bed at the holliday inn express across the street from the airpark. the only romms left were three smoking doubles and with copd that would not work. there is a lingerie show and another event going on the same weekend. i will leave early on thursday am to make a twelve hour drive out of an eight and a half hour drive because i have to get out every couple of hours to keep my legs and knees from locking up not to mention hurting a little. i have got a few ideas for my truck that will keep it still a production entry. the gm ls platform is unbelievable the way they respond to a HP tuneup. $600.00 for dyno time and the program for a guaranteed 30 to 35 more hp. i would really love to run 130 mph, any suggestions? i have basicaly the same engine in my corvette and am making 420 hp with just a cold air kit, highperformance exhaust snd the tune up. i can hardly wait and hope my health holds out because i am having a few problems right now. have a happy and safe holiday season, garrellComment

Garrell, there's a Holiday Inn Express that's pretty close to the air park. That's probably where I'm going to stay. Prices seem reasonable and I've always had good luck at HIE on the Power Tours.

bob, the holliday inn express is where i booked and according to the agent it is directly across the street from the airpark but you go down to a light and make a turn to get to site, eta 3 minutes. BUT, there was not a double bed, non smoking, left i took a king bed with a sofa bed and the rates are reasonable. i envy you guys with salt stained bonneville shirts, power tour etc. i wish i had a heart attack ten years ago and got it over with and had the energy and felt as good as i do now. i have built a dozen land speed and drag cars in my mind lately and they are doable and reasonable plans. it is difficult to convince your wife and children to let you leave the nest, so to speak, after lifting you from bed to wheelchair, to doctors, back to bed, feedimg, bathing you etc. i spent ten years on a sofa because of poor health and depression from having to retire from a career that i understand i loved and i do not remember any of it. BUT, i am thankful for all the blessings i have and to live in a country where you are free to do these things and that iwas and am financily able to do these things. my dad will be 87 next month and was a machine gunner serving in italy and germany during world war11 and i think a lot about him and all of our veterans that contributed to our freedoms. i better stop now before i get kicked off the forum, happy holidays again, garrellComment
