Clunking when you turn? I have a standard checklist I go through every month or so

      1. Check the drive shaft carrier to undercarriage bolts, those in the middle of the DS also check all the rubber donuts and make sure they are not frayed or that the bolts are not loose.
      2. Check the subframe connector bolts, they will loosen up, look at your subframe bushings, I have already wore out two sets.
      3. Check the rear sway bar mounting bolts to ensure they are tight
      4. Carefully check the differential to body mount bolts, I have found 3 of the 4 backed off to finger tight
      5. Check the CVS to stub bolts, inner and outer, they are notorious for coming out, 60 inch lbs I think double check that number though.
      6. Check the driveshaft to pinion bolts and the pinion nut, don't be cranking down on the pinion nut if it isn't leaking or obviously loose.
      7. I change my fluid and FM annually sometimes more depending on the abuse. I use Torco RGO with Ford FM.
      8. Check your control arms to ensure they are not binding when you turn the car, pay close attention to the camber adjusters, there is enough pressure there to break a control arm.
      9. Check the transmission and motor mounts to ensure they are functioning and tight.
      10. Check your shock mounts to see if they might be binding or loose.

That is about all you can do outside the car for free.

Consider a GForce1320 LSD spring rebuild kit
Consider a major rebuild kit and rebuild

I have not had rear differential problems except for some rebuild issues that were clearly a tech's fault. Let us know what you find.

Also, if the noise could be coming from the front there is a TB about rotating the coil springs.

                very nice.
I put a B&M shifter on my car last night - why didn't I do that the day I bought it, before shifting was like stirring tapioca.

as for the clunk issue - I think it's the right side exhaust pipe hitting the front, rear, lower control arm. I put it up on my lift last night, checked everything - and only thing I saw was that... of course this is a tentative theory; I still don't know why my inner right rear tire wears faster than all other three (going to the alignment shop again when I get a moment)

I think an aftermarket shifter is the first best mod most people really do. Congratulations. Ford 9 inch install is done and the car is running.

No sir, SNL Performance in Haslett Texas. Builder is private-me. No sponsors though I wil admit to an occasional negotiated discount.

Damned injectors were so big we had to take the bl;ower off to get them on. Everything is on and buttoned up, waiting for Matt to tune it. E85 conversion complete except the tuning.
