I was planning on getting the rest... or at least most of the guide coat/block sanding
done today BUT its been rainy all day and I was hoping to have sun so I could pull
the car out and get the sanding done in the sun light... well I ended up watching
drag racing and sitting back all day doing NOTHING.. I needed the break... yesterday
I was so tired at the end of the day I could barely stay awake

I've been having that 'needed the break' feeling for several months. I need to break that funk... maybe a painted Rampage would do it.

at least it runs and every once in a while I fire it up to pull it out of the
shop just to make sure it didnt get welded to the hoist...LOL

I hear ya! yesterday's weather was a real punch in the gut - hopefully you'll get this little beast painted this week.

I have to rebuild a tractor mowing deck so I can the lawn mowed before it needs to be bailed.
There's always something new to learn.

I just went over my lawn tractor to be ready for cutting.... I SHOULD rebuild the front end
on it since I ran into the ditch out by the road and bent up some tie rods and what not...
it toes out big time when I back up but I have it set so its fine when going forward... I thought
I was gonna have to put a battery in it the other day when I started looking at it but it was
just a bad connection at the battery... the plastic wing nut needs to be replaced with a real
nut and bolt..... I was blocking one of my last parts on the truck and of course I spotted a
small spot that needed some help.... so I hit it with some primer this morning... waiting for
it to kick of so I can finish that part.... I'm starting to REALLY nit pick this thing now... I should
just close my eyes and paint the damn thing... I mean its such a small spot at the bottom of
the door that you would never see it.... oh well its fixed now

The steering gear is stripped out of my JD LT155 there is a very small chance that I can replace some bushings and get it going again if not parts could add up to be close to $200

Bushings I dont have a problem with... if need be I can whip them out
on my lathe but gears are another problem.... I'd even look at other tractors
that might work for gears... I had to replace the pinion gear on my steering
and it started jumping due to a worn out bushing... if you want to call a piece
of plastic a bushing.. I made a bronze one for it

Hate to high jack your thread. The bushings on mine are metal the lower one was warn through so the teeth on the steering rod where not grabbing the other gear. The teeth on the shaft look good. The other gear has some noticeable wear. Seeing how I like to do things twice I am going to replace the bushing and see how it steers. Should only be a few bucks from JD, I don't have a lathe

It sounds like the steering set up on my tractor... if you you cant find the
flat gear(the one the shaft engages you can always weld the teeth up and
file them nice... I welded up mine and hit them with a small die grinder
You can do that on the shaft also.... in case you cant get parts

Well the body prep is all done... I'll strip the paper and plastic off the
truck tomorrow and clean it and the shop to get the booth up... depending
on the weather I can paint Saturday or Sunday.. Monday at the latest.....
                      of course unless something happens

Take pictures of the booth, what type of mask do you use?

I looked on line seems like the lower gear is not hard to find. Steers ok again right now i am in it for one new bushing $4.07

I have a couple of masks for painting.. a dual filter mask is what I will
use... thats what I normally use... I'll have to remember to take a few
pics when the booth is set up... its just clear plastic with a box fan on the
outlet and 4 filters on the inlet(2 sets of 2 stacked)... the plastic will cover
the floor and have 4 walls and a ceiling ... its gonna be pretty air tight with
a over lapping door area that I'll have a couple pieces of tape holding it closed..
its not quite the down draft booths I'm use to but I can make it work

Looks like the paint wont be sprayed until maybe Tuesday.. things are going a
little slower than I expected... the area I had planned on for my booth is gonna
be a bit small so I have to expand that area by about 6 ft... no big deal but its
always something... I tried hanging my parts today in my original area and it
would be to easy to get over spray on other parts so I am expanding... probably
                            gonna need more plastic
                            EDIT
I put new filters on both of my spray guns that I use for painting and
got a base pattern on them... I use 2 guns, a 1.4 nozzle for the base
and top coat then a 1.8 nozzle for the clear coat.... I figure 7 coats in
total... 3 base color coats, 1 top coats, 1 metallic coat and 2 clear....
oh thats not counting the white seal coat
