Very cool, unique sound. So glad it's not another sbc with flowmasters.

RULE!Originally posted by 67pete300 View PostIt's probably louder than I'd like, but it definitely celebrates the straight-sixness of this car! It has a mean idle as you heard, and makes a very distinctive and loud BRAAAAP under hard acceleration. I drove it 40 miles home at highway speed with the windows down and it's pretty loud. Better with the windows up. If I ever decide to get a radio working, it will now have to be a loud one! The exhaust guy could only fit 24" Cherry Bombs (BS Sponsor!) and I wanted longer ones.
But the exhaust makes a huge difference in driveability and power! I stomped on it merging onto the highway and looked down to see 4500 rpm which came waaay easier than it used to. I've finally uncorked the potential of the lump-port head and big carb.
Awesome video and GREAT sounds from those pipes!!! I love the way my 292 sounds though the single 'Bomb, yours sounds hella cool through two!

bad ass. I totally dig this thing...I would have like to have seen the exhaust tips slash cut tho...you need to get to a track...I would love to see some 1/4 mile times from it.If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment

Do you have a pic of your carb linkage setup? It looks like it has a left turn because your carb faces the left fender.
Any idea what kind of hp, or 1/4 mile times expected from your setup?Last edited by Scott Liggett; May 28, 2011, 09:56 AM.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Here is my homemade throttle linkage to turn the action 90 degrees:
The pros at inliners.org put my setup at 230-250hp. I probably need some more tuning to hit the upper end of that but I think it's in the ballpark. Who knows about the 1/4. The car weighs about 3100 lbs and has a 3.36 rear but the column shifting would be a significant factor.1967 Chevelle 300 2 Door Post. In car video! The angle isn't great because I couldn't mount the camera any higher. And it is long because it takes a while to get to the highway, still working on the editing bit. The two highway merges are at 6:00 and 8:15 if you care to skip ahead. In the early part you can see how crappy the roads and my shocks are.

Hit my first cruise night with the new engine. Lots of great attention. Finally some validation after a long, long project...1967 Chevelle 300 2 Door Post. No factory options. 250 ci inline six with lump-ported head, big valves, Offy intake and 500cfm Edelbrock carb.Comment

It's nice when people say it's cool, but you are the only one who really needs to like it, and enjoy that drive.Originally posted by 67pete300 View PostHit my first cruise night with the new engine. I agree, and I definitely like it. But I'd be lying if there weren't more than a few times where I'd wished I'd just stuck a new, crate sbc in it. I'm glad that (some) people "get it." And I'm still warming up to the exhaust note. Which I am
