Oh, on a serious note, my opinion on this car is to put a Hemi in it for originality, build it
like a super stock style drag car, but don't do anything that can't be undone (uh, that would
really be nothing, wouldn't it? Everything can be undone. ;D).

I would keep the paint, and do it up like a 70's race car with a hemi. Make it look just like a barn find and then take it out and flog it.

And don't forget to take it to a show or two and act like you don't know its a real hemi car.

Oh yeah.....oh yeah........well.......uhhhhhh.........I got nothing thats gonna come close to beat that. I dont know if its possible to top a hemi car for 750 bucks. What do you think it would sell for to a resto guy?? If its as much as I think it would be id sell it and buy one that real nice or somthing.

I doubt it's worth more than $3000, if that. Too hacked and too little documentation.

I'm not sure, but that looks like a car that Dick Mahan used to run out here on the west coast. He had one like that originally painted with Army colors then changed it when he lost sponsorship. It kinda looks like what he changed it to. Dick passed away around 86 (?) and used to race with the Dust Devils out of Inyokern. Dick used to be an announcer at Pomona in the early 80s for the Winternationals and the Finals.

Actually, a guy named Al Green owned it since the early 70s.

The Al Green? seriously though, Im guessing the name "Mojave Green" comes from Mr. Green's last name. Is it possible to contact him and see if he has any old pictures? If he has owned the car that long, he should have something. I'd like to see it in full race regalia...

                      He's dead.

Why not draw up something for us? I'm thinking Cragars in front, Moon tank in the grille, nose-high, black & white steelies on the back, '67 RO23 hood scoop, psychedelic graphics, yellow tinted lexan. Like a '68 match-race car.

                        that sucks.

This idea rocks, One of the very few times i wrote in to hot rod was to ask to see more match bash cars. There was a guy out in Seattle in the story doing a bunch of AWB stuff, i have always regretted not stopping by his shop while i lived there.

I cant wait to draw this up, its gonna be effin wicked. heres the gist:
                        for the fronts

Black and white steelies? In Hot Rod deluxe, you guys gave a steelies guide. Immensely helpful. On page 78 there is a black and white rim painted like, almost a bmw sign, is that what you mean?
                        heres the rim kinda

Is this the hood you're talking about?

                        ...Can't ferget the moon tank!

How about those graphics? Another CarJunkieTv.com logo?
                        no logo?
something original? perhaps on a green theme. I really like green as the color btw.

Yep, those are the wheels and the scoop. But the back wheels would be half-white, half-black, not te checkerboard pattern seen in the Hot Rod Deluxe issue.

I was going to keep the Mojave Green name and even the type style as-is, but probably do it in bright gold leaf, or perhaps with damascene foil. I wanted to go more hardcore '60s by adding panel-painting techniques to the inset that runs the length of the car: paint blotches, lace, stuff along those lines.

Love that hood. It's kind of the inspiration for mine.

DF,I saw your post about the 750 dollar Hemi car on moparts and was very jealous. You don't even want to see a 750 dollar Mopar around here! I know a dude witha 4 door 64 Dodge ,slant six, complete floorpan delete.I might be able to get that for 700 bucks!I'd go nuts on it.I could much easier draw a rendition of how I think it should be done that try photoshopping it.I'd be going the vintage drag look too.The wheelwell cutouts look kinda funky,I'd be reworking them somehow,Not necessarily like stock, but I think you know what I'm getting at.
