HAha, me too! ive got a great excuse tho, i worked on an other project,

But enough derailing, Im almost done with my drawring, she gets color tonight. Last night i fought and fought with Pseudo-shop till i finally gave up and went crawling back to my colored pencils. Which reminds me

I looked and could not find an appropriate picture,
        1) Is it white rims with black centers? or vice-versa? Does the color swap occur where the middle piece meets the rim?

2)Are you guys keepin the current rollcage?
i vote yes if its structurally sound.

3)Is it legal to run yellow tinted front glass? would you?

        4)would you run side glass?

        Thanks for your impatience
        Its worth the wait!

Here's the best photo I could find. It MIGHT be better just to have black or white steelies on the back and Cragars on the front. Would have to look at the car to see how busy it is. The half-n-half wheels are more '64-'65ish, while I think I'm going more '67-'68 vintage. I'd use Keystone Klassics if I didn't hate them, and I think that Ansen slot mags might be a bit too plain.

The side and rear windows would be yellow, but the windshield would be clear.

Don't forget that the top can be candystriped, or panel painted, or anything else period-looking.

I just saw a pair of 15 x 4 Keystone classics in a barn the other day here in Indiana!

Now that you have a proper home for that hemi - I guess the deal to trade it for Doug's 69 mach1 is out?

I'm so discouraged with project pile up lately (house and garage projects) I'm about ready to sell trade scrap burn and trash everything to simplify my life - but what fun would that be?
There's always something new to learn.

Whew! This one was tough, but sooo worth it. last night i got so frustrated with the colored pencils, my lame scanner, photoshop, but i managed to shove my way through it. It just comes down to practice and experience (which i've been getting plenty of lately!)

Overall im pretty happy although technically, its not 100% done yet. (the green one)

I tried a few different colors of rims, but like you were talking about, it was just to busy imho. I kept as much as possible (and salvageable) from the original scheme. Its pretty psychedelic. I would love to hear everyones opinion on the drawings.

This one's not really done yet but its purpose was to lay out stripes so i might just leave it as is.

Like you've been telling the manufacturers your whole life, Build it already! I can hear it now, SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! Mojave Green Vs. Wilshire Shaker!

I say we beat Hot Rod at their own game...

I really dig the cartoon ( alot) and also the panel-paint layout. But the graphics are too '70s-van and not enough '60s psych.

Re: CarJunkieTV got a Hemi Car For $750...REALLY!

So i sat and festered on it for a while and ive got some great ideas coming. Funny, i had an artist friend of mine over (shes in town from from one of chicago's finest art schools) and at one point we sat around drawing crazy shapes and patterns. I came away from that with a ton of stuff that i cant wait to get drawn out.

I've got questions, Is it ok to mix stripes and panels? I was thinking a pinstriped roof and paneled body. Would that be a brown belt and black shoes affair?

I like the southwestern theme that the car hints at in the photos. When people hear the word Mojave in their heads, their thoughts go strait to desert. I like that idea. How about some kind of outlaw, southwestern, gunslingin, barbrawlin', sun of a gun Drag racer? I'll slim down the "psychodelia" and turn up the southern theme. Add Willie Nelson, Early Rollin Stoned and a dash of Clint Eastwood good bad ugly, but still keep the badassness of retro panel schemes, trippy shapes and patterns, and modern artistical line non sensory...

Here is the link to the Wikipedia Page for the "Mojave Green Rattlesnake" aka Crotalus scutulatus,
                        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotalus_scutulatus
how does "Mojave Green Rattler" sound to you? ive seen some shakers, but no rattlers. Build the motor with a wicked cam, so it rattles to the staging lane. Rattle sounds scarier than shaker And the snake opens up some great pattern ideas
                        heres the snake

Although green is the color for this build, any G.I. will agree these are great colors. What other colors go great with green? Contrasting colos? Complimentary? I like Green, orange, and Yellow the most so far.
Heres a stretch, My Grandma use to have an old oven and the paint was kind-of a fade job from outside going in. From about Reddish brown to oranginsh tan. It was totally dated but so period correct. Those colors would look good in a stripe, patterened like wavy sand in the dunes.

I LOVE the paneling job on this one, the color is a little too kirbys dreamland for me . I find myself attacted to the star like shapes within the panels. How about some appropriately placed shapes, something like what you find on the bottom of cheesy motel bathtubs, The 70's star asterix thingy

maybe not flames but he breaks free from the panels. kinda neat.

think these colors would look good with green?

Prolly next time i come to you all here i will have some visual options on what to fill stripes and panels with. Original stuff i squeeze out of my thinker. Am i getting warmer?

Re: CarJunkieTV got a Hemi Car For $750...REALLY!

All the samples you have there are good except for the Corvette and Rollin' Stoned funnies, both of which are mid-to-late '70s cars (and the paint schemes show it) whereas I'm looking at '67-'68. The designs actually changed pretty quickly back then.

The Howard Cams Rattler is a famous Fuel FED of the time. This photo is the best one I could find for showing the color and graphic scheme on that car, but you can see more by searching google images for howard rattler, howard cams rattler, and rattler dragster.

The Mojave Green Rattler works as a name if you want to go that way. I'd prefer not to go too literal with snakeskin graphics. What's funny is that the graphics on the car currently show saguaro cactus. Those dont grow in the Mojave. They are only in the Sonoran desert. But I think it's funny to leave them on there.

For colors, remember you can go two-tone green. The other colors can be metallic golds and burnt orages (like those on the Rattler dragster, but with darker orange). Some silver can be in there, too. They were not afraid of colors back then. But don't go too primary with stuff that's directly opposite from eachother on the color wheel.

                          Helps?

                            Helps? sure does!

Thanks for the info, that gave me some good avenues to pursue. Stay tuned for some pattern ideas!

On a side note, i picked up a digital pen pad (wacom) and hopefully if everything goes as planned, i will be using adobe illustrator by tomorrow night. that will help speed the delay time between drawing and presenting a digital image online.
