    3" H-pipes for fox-body mustang

the headers im getting for the mustang have a 3" collector but i cant find any 3" offroad H-pipes.

does anybody know where i could find some? or should i just get headers with a 2.5" collector?

Do you need to have 3" on the H-pipe? 2-1/2" should be plenty for what you had mentioned previously was going on to the engine ... I ran that size with a 400ish HP 347 stroker.

i want it to last more than 2 years....ill pass on flowmasters

and i want to keep this somewhat cheap.....i wish the police would just let me run headers ;D

no, i would run 2.5" but the cheapest headers i found have a 3" collector and i want to keep the exhaust all the same size. so im looking for a 3" h-pipe

first off.. flowmaster and OTHERS make matdrel bent pipe.. and ..it lasting more than 2 years.. is dependant of rust.
if your gonna run converters, forget it lasting.. unless you use s/s

And since no one makes 3" h-pipies,
            use a 2.5" reducer, and run 2.5".

ya, thats what i thought i'd have to do...but i wouldve rather had all the same size piping...its an OCD thing ;D

Unless you have 600 hp in front of it, you don't need 3" pipes. All you will do is lose low-end torque and response.

No way 3" would fit my car. The 2 1/2" barely fits and I have to be VERY careful so that it doesn't bang on stuff.

What about a 3" x-pipe? Everybody and their dog sellls those now. I like the x-pipe myself it makes the car sound like you have an extra 1000 rpm from track side.

Bill I love 180* headers for just that reason.

I had a set of JE headers in a 67 Mustang with Boss 302 motor back in the day with rear tubes that crossed over under the oil pan at 7500 it sounded like 9000 RPM. Until a vlave head broke off.

As to 3" pipes all the way back behind a small block Ford? Its probably too much. I run 4" collectors tapered down to 3.5" through the x-pipe and then taper to 3" for the rest of it through the mufflers over the rear end to the reasonators and out the tips. With Flowmasters it chokes the motor about 2 tenths. With Magnaflows, 1 tenth. 580 cu. in.
