    TCI 6L80e

My H3 could use more gears, and the transmission probably has 20k more and will need replacement.
I talked to TCI today, and their 6L80e seems like the cat's pajamas, better overdrive, more gears.
Yes, I know it's 8k for the transmission plus adapter and computer reflash.... like all good things, the price will come down - but to prevent the stampede, I'm curious what the prevailing thought is.
    thoughts?

They use a 4L80e case, you can get them on Ebay for $7200 shipped to your door, they told me they can build it to withstand 1200hp, though I'm sure the price may be a bit more, I don't think it has a lockup or at least when I was looking they didn't have a listing for one with a lock up.... That being said I wonder how much the new 6 speed autos that come in the Camaro's would be??....

At least with TCI, any money spent is worth it's weight. Looking at a 5R55S for the Mustang with stronger internals...looks cheaper than AMP's 5/6 speed swap.
          Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

the kicker for TCI (at least to me) is this - unlimited mileage, lifetime warranty - without the stupid Magnaflow "you must have a licensed installed install it for the warranty to be valid" (really, for MUFFLERS?!! - ones that you advertise always fit right?)

also, the guarantee is good for up to 850 hp.

to me, a rebuilt 4L65e (what's in my truck) is 2500 installed, and I eat a transmission about once every 100k miles - so basically I'm buying 300k miles worth of transmissions - and since it's in my 4x4, it really could pay to go with TCI.

and nope, it's not the installed price..... that's FOB their dock price

#1.. He aparantly can afford it
                      #2...he wants more gears.
                      #3...he wants something stronger/more reliable

Don't know where you are from, but the PNW mud and rocks are HARD on equipment...
All the hard-core mud runners/wheelers swap in bigger axles and transfers
Buddy did a full size jeep pickup with a 440 from a motor home, normal hop ups, trans kit, 2.5 ton International 4X4 transfer case and axles
Full size Blazers get Dana 60 fronts and rears or 14 bolt rears..
My son's Full size Blazer has the older GM drop out 3/4 ton tear under it.. Getting ready to swap the front some day..

Since SBG goes wheeling for fun and SAR, plowing trails, and stuff like that.. I can see why he wants to improve on it..
