Luke turned 64 today at Drag Week, and he ran his best pass yet today with his Boss 331 stroker combo that we built here at TheEngineWorks.com.. The last time he's been down the track like this was back in the mid 70's, so he's a little rusty rowing that toploader crashbox, but even missing a gear he ran a 12.06 @ 110!. He's had almost no problems with a car that got built and finished in his garage a day before it had to get loaded to go to Tulsa, only issues he's had is keeping a belt on it, so I would consider that a pretty good week so far.. He says the engine has ran flawless, and THAT makes me very happy!

Gotta say Eddie, although you are a lightning rod online sometimes, it's impressive that you prioritized your customer/friend's drag week motor over your own.
100% class act in my book.
Now if we could just get rid of the fuel leaks on that Duster...!www.realtuners.com - catch the RealTuners Radio Podcast on Youtube, Facebook, iTunes, and anywhere else podcasts are distributed!

It's ok, I'm living vicariously through Luke! I'll be back in some form next year, lots of possibilities to consider..

In Tulsa, he made a pass, it tossed the belt and exploded the upper rad hose off right next to our pit. Scared the crap outta me. They got it buttoned back up and I saw them on the road this afternoon.Last edited by BBR; September 11, 2012, 09:56 PM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Luke is still having belt issues when he zings it to the moon, but he's dealing with it, and he's not had one single other issue with a car that was rebuilt from the ground up right before DW, so he's a very happy camper! Luke had to fight through some post birthday hangover blues today, so he had his issues getting down the track.. lol He left with a 12.50 something having traction and shifting issues and called it a day, and headed off to memphis for day 4 with a smile.. His main concern is just getting into the bracket race on Friday, and right now he's safely in.. Maybe no birthday partying tonight, and a good nights sleep and he'll be fresh for tomorrow..
I'm gonna ask if maybe one of you more knowledgable guys will go help him in the "pre" stage department, mostly burnout part.. He's VERY rusty after 35 years, and needs to be placed in the proper spot for burnout, he's been doing the burnout in first gear, sitting right in the middle of the puddle, not getting any heat in the tires, then dragging all that water up to the line with him, which is causing the obvious traction problems.. DON'T tell him I said anything, just please give him a hand, Luke's a GREAT guy! :-)
