Yes, we took mine the year that the gas prices were so high. Phil's Fiero gets really good gas mileage, but mine is even better with 39 - 40 mpg typically. The other time Phil's Fiero was ailing and Phil couldn't fix it quickly enough so we took mine. It's always nice to have a backup PT car. But after all these years.....since 1999.....I think Phil & I would go anyway even if we had to drive my Subaru

Train would be fun, but will be a lot cheaper to drive!!

For everybody coming down I-81 to I-77, we live right off I-77. Vic's shop is in sight of the interstate. You will be coming right by Fancy Gap. Don't know yet when we will be leaving, but maybe we can hook up with some of you!

Jarlaxle, we did the exact route to Florida you are talking about when we went to Daytona at Thanksgiving. Took us about 10 hours drive time.

Terri, I'd hope to meet up with you, Glenn, Tunaboat on your way down. I'm thinkin' somewhere between Savannah GA and Jacksonville as an overnight stop on Thursday night. Five hours from Savannah to Cocoa Beach on Friday/Two hrs-45 min-Jacksonville to Cocoa.

Charles, would be a blast if we could all go together! We did stop overnight just south of Savannah on the way down in November. Makes a nice break from driving straight through. But I think Tunaboat is gonna take the train with Fred.
I like traveling with you, cause you find really neat places to stop!! (Like the American Gothic house!)

Well...I may not be able to get Friday off work, so this may get interesting. I might have to leave work Friday, get my friend at his house, and run until like 3am that night (him driving, me sleeping), then run hard to make Cocoa Beach to register Saturday afternoon. I don't want to do that, but may have to.

OK, update: I think I have Friday off, so: probably leaving from RI first thing Friday morning (like, 6:30 or so), via the route laid out in my opening post. Figuring about 20-21 hours driving (Mapquest says 22.5 hours, which I have always found a bit pessimistic), I would figure stopping Friday night somewhere between Roanoke, VA and Columbia, SC. (I know, that's about a 300 mile window...depends how tired we get.)

Hey good to know some Rhode Islanders are going to be there. This is going to be my first try at the PT. It sounds like a lot of fun and I even got the wife to buy into it. I just hope my car is up for it. Phil I think I met you and your wife at FT Adams last year I was with me son. Unless there is another couple from RI that does the tour in a Feiro if it was you, thank you now I'm addicted to the ideanow lol.

Yes, we met at Fort Adams. You've put a lot of pressure on us now though, but we're confident you'll have a really nice time and by the end of the week will be just as addicted as the rest of us Glad you convinced your wife. You'll both have a great time....meet some really nice people,....especially in this group..... travel from venue to venue with other like minded car people....so much fun...... and have wonderful memories by the end of the week.

Phil is planning for a 12th Power Tour this year.....have to keep on par with Charles (Impala Guy)

We're staying at the LaQuinta on Hendry Ave. in Cocoa Beach. Look for Phil's yellow Fiero, but if for some reason Phil's Fiero can't make it, look for my burgundy T-top Fiero Coupe.

I will be running south on an undetermined route in an undetermined car from a yet to be determined day, hows that? I do know that I will be headed south in June in a mustang. Both of mine are in major separate components. How long do I have?

Justin, if I can piece my Torino back together in 7 days {including working DURING the day} you can get one of the pony's out of the stable.

Hi Gwen. thanks for the hotel list. I will be booking the rooms next week. I hope there not full. I haven't taken my car on any long trips so I'm going to test it by going to Carlisle PA in April. I don't thing it will be a problem. We are both getting excited it;s going to be out first vacation with out the kids in 23 years. 13 days in a car together and I'm sure it will be another 23 years till the next one lol.are you guys from Woonsocket? we live in North Smithfield. small world

AFAIK, Phil & Gwen are in Coventry. I'm in Woonsocket...I'm running with my friend Bruce, he's in Westerly. When are you leaving & what's your route to Cocoa Beach?

I want to leave Wednesday. I'm going the down 81 it's a nice ride I've taken it several times. I figure a stop in VA and on to Coco from there. We want to spend a day there on the beach to recoup from the ride down . I'm going to be putting a CB in the car so I can listen to the truckers 81 is a trucker route.
