  • Hotel Parking and Washing Your Ride

    More newbie questions.

If you'r out running around the town and checking out all the extra activity during each stop, what is the best time to get back to the hotel to get a parking spot?

I would guess the parking lot would be full to the brim and parking would be scarce. What have you all found to be a good time to get back?

And where do you wash your ride?

Guys the parking situation will depend upon how big the parking lot is at your hotel. Last year, for me, the only stop where the lot was completely full was in Indy. At that Confort Inn it had a small parking lot however there was plenty of parking across the street. Like I said it will depend on where you stay. I usually go straight to my hotel after the venue closes at 6:00 and in most cases a party breaks out in the lot. As for as washing the car I've seen it done at the hotel but I usually find one of those quickie wash places and then do some detailing at the hotel. Hope I've helped you out.

we typically try to twist the hotel's arm to let us use their hose and water and set up an informal wash bay. When that doesn't work then the next best thing is the quarter car wash deals. I don't typically "run around town" so once I am done at the venue - I go to the hotel to clean my car and start consuming some adult beverages. After all - you never know when a breakout of burnouts will occur.

I distinctly remember washing the truck at about 2am one morning last year. At least I think I remember it.

I highly suggest washing your car during the tour. I learned the hard way how much damage can be done to a car's paint when I returned home after my first power tour.

Some hotels are cool with washing your vehicle on the premises. I remember one place donating towels and hoses and then there are others who take the handles off the spigots. Trash cans make great soap buckets.
