Due to the changes in downtown Sioux City, Drag Racing during Rockn Rods will not happen this year. The Hard Rock Cafe has purchased the Battery Building and are in construction mode around the property, Water Street is located next to this property and is not going to be available this year. With much consideration and exploration, no other street in downtown can be made ready for a smooth racing surface within budget or time frame. Once again NO DRAG RACING this year. There will be a free of charge car show and shine 3 to midnight and "Cruise the Loop" Saturday from 7 to 10 PM. Jones Street will feature live bands for entertainment.
The committee is already working on details for next year that will include Drag Racing. As I understand fees already paid will be offered for refund or apply to next years event. I spoke with Linda this evening, at this time they are still planning to come to Sioux City for the weekend.
