Finished the headliner and got the decals on before heading to the Car Craft Summer Nationals but unfortunatly we never made it do to a fuel pump failure.
That landed the bird here:
Then here:
I was waiting for a comment from Squirrel about computer driven stuff and not being able to use a 5 gallon can and gravity feed to get home... ouch. Sorry to hear it.
My question - is the tank full? Reason I ask? My fuel pumps always seem to barf when the tank is full.
Been having lots of fun with the car. Autocrossing and the first two legs of power tour this year. Just put a new AGR steering box on to tighten things up a little and it made a noticeable difference. Then today while running some errands the motor let go. I was doing some spirited driving at the time but nothing to over the top. Loud bang followed by rattle and loss of oil pressure. Restarted to hear more clanging. I am debating just throwing another motor in it out of a vette I have access to or doing a full rebuild on the one that is in it.
whats the diffrence between the vette and formula engine? Would it hold its value better "numbers matching"? If the vette engine is the same or better I would say drop it in and get back on the road, you can always build the badest formula engine later and swap it back in.
"Remy-Z, you've outdone yourself again, I thought a Mirada was the icing on the cake of rodding, but this Imperial is the spread of little 99-cent candy letters spelling out "EAT ME" on top of that cake."

The vette engine has aluminum heads and 85,000 fewer miles. It also hasn't been bottle fed.
It's also 50-state legal and new with warranty. A good trade off.
Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

The LS3 is a thought but more coin.
that's a nice way of saying "beat on by hooligans for you magazine reader guy's entertainment"... is the 'vette mill an LT1 or LT4? If it's not too much, seems like a good way to get you back on the road.
The vette engine is a L98 out of a rear ended 90. I would just put the long block in my car. Probably add my 1.6 roller rockers and may put a cam in it.
L98 sure would be a nice little upgrade. Plus, 50ish lbs. lighter with the aluminum heads. Nice easy swap.
Does the car have a 305 in it now? If so, you will have to swap out a few sensors to make it all jive correctly. Knock sensor, MAP (I think), and something else I am forgeting are calibrated differently in a 305 car. Oh, and snag the Vette computer, too.
