2013 Western Scenic Tour

I need commitments to set this up. We can start in vegas, through zion, bryce, powell, south rim and end in vegas. We can make this a 4 day run if that works for everyone. Maybe an october trip? Let me know if there is an interest!

Can't do October, Cruising the Coast is Oct 7 - 14th for us southern guys. But a lap around the Grand Canyon would be a great trip!

I'm okay with mid september. I just dont want to put this together and have 1 or 2 cars show up. Lets get a commitment of 6 or more cars and we can set this up.

This would be a great trip, I would hope that the plans would not compete with Power Tour dates so that there could be an opportunity for those who might like to participate in both. Personally I prefer later in the year for Colorado, Wyoming. Also South Dakota Black Hills would be another great place to end in. Best wishes with this idea Doug.....

I agree, don't conflict with the HRPT. In fact, if you do it in the fall (post summer) and before winter you could attract many other near-West tourers. My participation will depend on the date, that's for sure.

Living 3.5 hours from Vegas and having made the drive up the 15 many times I agree this would be a great trip. There's many options in Vegas (obvious).

Other options would be to start slightly more South in CA or even more South in San Diego (right Rett?). As we head North up the 15 we could cut over to Denver on the 70.

The issue with Yellowstone is that early or mid september is about as far into fall as you want to go. Early Sept has great fall temps during the day and cool nights which is great. I've been there during that time in shorts and a t shirt. I've also been there and its raining and attempting to snow. There is not much fall color in Yellowstone in early/mid september. A bit more in the Grand Tetons

No fall colors in Zion until usually early November but Oct/Nov have great temps for cruising and of course the crowds are lighter.
September can still be a bit warm in Zion NP areas. We will select the dates that allows the most people to attend, I know we cant please everybody on the dates because we are all so busy but i will do the best i can.

Hi all. I saw this thread and thought maybe some of us from the east coast could join in. We are planning a Route 66 trip from Maryland to Chicago then to California. We are planning to start mid September '13 maybe a week or so before the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Vegas stopping there for a few days then head west. We are taking a whole month off of work to do this so if this can work let me know if not that's ok too.

HECK YEA you're welcome. I'm from the East coast but have been in California for 30+ years and would love to have some people who understand how I talk for a change. Also PM Chuck Casey a few lines back and he has a wonderful APP for Rt 66 that is just the best. We used it all the way from California to Chicago the week before the Power Tour this year..The best $4 we, or Chuck, spent on our trip. Hope to see you guys on the Western Tour. And Doug, count us in and lets get them dates going. We're excited already..

September sounds great, my only problem is the boys will be in school I'll have to see about making arrangements to have them seen after ( single dad ). Get some dates together I'M IN. Heck I'll get to drive my Vette!!

Ok, I'm sure your schedule is filling up fast like mine is. I'm looking at some dates in september and since i'm retired i have lots of time and everyday is a saturday meaning i can go on a trip any day(s) of the week. So, what works best for those of you who are interested in going? I'm thinking the week of either September 16-22 or 23-29. Not 7 days of travel, just in those time frames. I'm thinking maybe a 4 day trip? But i can do 3 or 5 or more? Starting location will be Las Vegas unless you want to meet directly in the Zion National Park area?

Doug, I'm like you,retired, but I would like to be home on Sept. 28th. There is a car show I try not to miss.. Criusin for a Cure..
So if we use the latter dates maybe we could start near the earlier part of the week or on the weekend before..
