I went back out and, inspired by SBG, dug through my boxes of acquired used goodies.

I like that air filter, it adds a certain "je ne sais qua" to the overall ambience.
either that or it looks totally redneck

Nice work my friend! Those valve covers look awesome - but I still think the proper place for the "mad max" scoop is the boat.... it's a neat design experiment here - but I don't think it's a very effective air cleaner. There's always something new to learn.Comment

I agree. Plus the injectors are within 1/2 inch of the top and they have no pigtails on them either.
But with a spacer and a hole in the hood, and that scoop just barely peeking out......... must focus, get car to run first.......

Rode often in my son's 65 Skylark with the 500 in it.. I would love to travel to ride in this!Originally posted by STINEY View PostI agree. Plus the injectors are within 1/2 inch of the top and they have no pigtails on them either.

You are gonna have a hell of a ride...
I still have my 500 that got put in several derby cars.. First motor that got moved from car to car... I had to work hard and fast to be in the top before that beast got hot! Never had to hit the secondaries either... If I did.. It became an uncontrolable mess. Lol.
It was so frustrating to have a hell of a hit lined up then the secondaries kick in....Comment

I think this car will be good for cookie cutting... driving, not so much.... at least with my Spider, there's a lag between pressing the throttle and sideways (I hope) - with the 500 the torque starts the second you touch the throttle.... In fact, I bet somewhere in the ethernet is a youtube video that might have been a 54 Studebaker 4x4 truck that was roasting its 33s doing that very thing (touch throttle, start smoke)...Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

This month in Street Rodder magazine there is a tube-framed (looks similar to a AC cobra frame) 500 cube caddy car that was meant to be raced at the track and pike's peak.... that would be interesting to build
