I know plenty don't care for the wiki, but it seems to be taboo for anyone to remember water as the largest influence on our atmosphere's temperature.

      water vapor, which contributes 36?72%
      carbon dioxide, which contributes 9?26%
      methane, which contributes 4?9%
      ozone, which contributes 3?7%
Why the spread on the water? Depends on the relative humidity of the area. More humid it is the higher dominance water has on the local temperature, lower humidity lower it's relevance, but it's still ALWAYS the dominate factor.

Sums it up with we (as the human race) pretty much know very little about causes and effects in our climate, but that doesn't stop some from going with their gut feeling or say what's necessary to keep funding going to them (easier to scare money up than to simply say we don't know and need to study more).

Let's not forget that much of the supposed "data" was done on computers.

Absolute power, absolutely corrupts.......time for us to reign these foaming-at-the-mouth idiots in before they screw us all into oblivion!

No, we as an industrialized nation haven't necessarily done the environment any favors with some of our practices, and the steps taken to clean up our acts have brought about noticeable results.

But the rest of the modern world needs to do their part instead of heaping it upon us.....and I'm not gonna retreat into living in a grass hut living on friggin' seaweed just to satisfy some self-righteous asshat's idea of Utopia.

Damn, Chuy......"Mr. Mellow" almost pops a gasket! Can't say I disagree with ya.

Maybe it's a good thing that I shut down my TV service. I'm sure there's someone on a streetcorner in Seattle who is singing every possible praise of this conference. Probably the same bitch who tried to hit the Chevelle with green spraypaint a year or so ago at a gas station. Probably the same people who come out to the bridge that serves the base gate near where my house is, with signs telling me that I'm a bad person for what I do in life.

(sorry, Mods) ####ing hippies...it's just like what I experienced every deployment...a radical mindstate who is trying to force ideals on moderates.

Ahhhhhhh! As Ive said for years, if the enviros are so worried about CO2, overpopulation etc, they can solve what they believe to be a problem by no longer breathing. Oh and Remy-z I hear you but what worries me is all the fools inside the wire and standing upstream in my chain of command that believe this load of crap, hell 60% of those idiots voted for 'Change.' My change comes her in two months when I take off the uniform and am no longer part of the problem.

Has anyone taken note of the fact that the EPA said they are going to classify CO2 as being harmful to humans and are going to regulate it? The plan is to install cap-and-trade regulations through the EPA, rather than put it through as voted-on legislation by our elected representatives.

They keep saying the ice caps are melting, glaciers are retreating, and Oh! The polar bears!!! And we've always been told that when this happened, coastal areas would become submerged.

How come if it's happening right now, I've never seen a single news report that the water level in Daytona, New York, or SoCal has raised a single inch? You'd think that would be their smoking gun.

I contend MMGW is nothing more than the world's best way to bring the affluence of the United States down to their level. Even our poorest people live in homes sealed from the elements, have TVs, cell phones and a car. The world wants more parity between us and them, and MMGW is the answer.

Well, it's definitely not fiction that the north pole has been in "open water" the past couple years. Whether or not WE are causing it, the bottom line should simply be: Human Survival.

I'm not sold on global warming yet, but I sure am not dumb enough to think that concern for what we're doing to the environment is without merit! It takes a sketchy person to think that burning millions of pounds of petroleum/coal/whatever and pouring it into the atmosphere, combined with massive reduction in tree/plant life (deforestation), isn't screwing up our atmosphere. We've been able to log data that shows a reduction in available oxygen in the atmosphere... and guess what? we need Oxygen to breathe, plain and simple.

so, while I agree that the most radical "greenies" are serious morons, I have to say - anyone who dismisses this concern for human survival as "new religion" is pushing the same boundaries of retardedness as the guy who is willing to blow up a house over his concern for moss on a tree.

Humans can survive in a very wide range of climates. If the human caused global warming stuff is indeed true in the way that the fanatics claim, it will result in an average change in climate that is a couple percent of the full range of climate that humans live in.

It's really hard for me to get excited about that.
