First the guy on KISW this morning saying that the officer who shot Maurice Clemmons (the man who ambushed four Lakewood, WA. cops) should be charged with excessive force....

    Now this.

Either side of the coin, it's pretty f**king sick that children are used in order to sway feelings. Show facts. Show proof. Why do you need to have a cute 10-y/o girl freaking out in a four-minute ad to prove your point?

Now I'm gonna be pissed all day....

Well, Excessive amounts of CO2 are a dangerous green house gas. So, all of the participants in the conference and the EPA should do their part to reduce the gasses. JUST STOP BREATHING!!!

Global Warming is a myth and nothing more. It is 20 degrees out today. I do not call that warm. The planet makes adjustments to it's climate on a cyclic basis and we can't stop it.

This is just an end around Congress so Obama can show the folks in Copenhagen that he is serious about the "crisis" with global warming.

He wants to reduce our CO2 output by 2050 to levels not seen since the 1870's.

Manipulation. Nothing more, nothing less... doesn't matter if you like cars, trees, or teddy bears - to the world, you're nothing more then a number or a demographic that can be easily forced to think one way or another by manipulating those beliefs.

So that's how the world's gonna end? A giant tornado coming from nowhere without a thunderstorm and a flood. Oh well, we all gotta go sometime.

A professor here at Penn State is being investigated for being part of what they're calling 'climategate'
Something about emails between other climate change researchers and somebody told the rest to delete certain information from their reports. It seem that the information that was supposed to be removed from the reports was contradictory to the man made global warming thing they were trying to claim, at least that's the theory.

That is the bluntest truest statement I've heard in a long long time.

And for the record, I could write pages on the subject of emissions, global warming, man's contribution, etc. (and have). I just don't feel like it (at the moment......), there is sooooo much mis-conception on both sides it's ridiculous and easy to see why either side buys in to either side. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Oh, THAT is some serious BULLSHIT right there!
First of all - they should stop this "save the world" crap, because it can take care of itself.
(they really mean save the humans - why not just say that, at least?)
And second, the arrogance, the hubris of people who actually think our actions can change the course of weather just pisses me off.

For instance: Imagine a cubic mile of air floating over the ocean.
Now - do something with it, make it move, or transform.
Ya can't do it, can ya?

Weather is the result of the constant interaction between sunlight and water - that's all.
It was in motion before we showed up and it will continue when we are gone.
To think we are so frickin' powerful that we can change it PERMANENTLY is insanity.

As so often happens, the idiot who writes the article had NO F'ing clue what he/she is writing about and gets it wrong. Oxides of nitrogen (NOx) is NOT the same as N2O - nitrous oxide. The concern is NOx which is the catalyst that works with sulpher compounds and atmospheric hydrocarbons to form smog. This concern is reasonable. Banning N2O makes no sense at all and, I'm pretty sure is not on the table - I'll check in with my EPA buddies and verify that. A case of crappy reporting and a failure to fact check.

Sorry, but the threat to N20 is real.

In the infamous MASSACHUSETTS v. EPA decision, "Petitioners maintained . . . that carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and hydrofluorocarbons are 'heat trapping greenhouse gases.'"

The U.S. Supreme Court found that the Clean Air Act "embraces all airborne compounds of whatever stripe, and underscores that intent through the repeated use of the word "any." Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and hydrofluorocarbons are without a doubt 'physical [and] chemical . . . substance(s) which [are] emitted into . . . the ambient air.' The statute is unambiguous."

The EPA now says "Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a clear, colorless gas, with a slightly sweet odor. Due to its long atmospheric lifetime (approximately 120 years) and heat trapping effects -- about 310 times more powerful than carbon dioxide on a per molecule basis -- N2O is an important greenhouse gas."

Bangshifters are being put on the defensive here because we've not come together and fought hard enough to preserve our automotive liberties.

Some of us debated all this back in 2008 over at Car Craft.com (when there was more we could do about it). Here's a few choice "sound bites:"

"More horsepower means more CO2. And nitrous oxide is a much more "heat-trapping" greenhouse gas than CO2 when released into the atmosphere. If the radical greeniacs obtain unfettered power in Washington -- look out!"

"Carbon emissions are not something that you can just "adapt" around. Carbon production is proportionate to fuel consumption (on anything but hydrogen fuel). Fuel consumption is proportionate to horsepower. In other words, cutting carbon means cutting horsepower. It's that simple."

"BTW, methane is a far more "offensive" greenhouse gas than CO2 to the Sierra Clubbers. (Not because of smell but because of heat-trapping ability) Some of the more radical elements on the left have even called for forced reductions in the consumption of beef and dairy products (fewer cows, less methane. Less methane, less climate change). That's crazy!

Perhaps we ought to all go eat a huge steak, wash it down Indy 500-style with a quart of ice-cold "victory" milk, then vent our nitrous bottles to the atmosphere in a huge plume and do a massive tire-popping burnout to protest this greenhouse gas madness . . . ."

In this "age of computer tech", Why could they not do a world wide video confrance? And save the fuel and polution. The old saying goes "change starts with me". May be it should read "change starts with my people of my country after countless tax rasies, regulations and sanctions that I will have some of my other people print a 2,000 page asertation on the do's and dont's as soon as my ultra huge 747 touches back down".
