A pass or two down that strip is on my "Bucket List" along with the Van Nuys Cruise, a pass at Irwindale, Bob's Big Boy, Donut Derelicts and a few other things!

Really not that bad of an idea just get 14999 of your closest friends to throw in $50 get someone local to run it for 50% of the gate the rest to keepup the track. The 15000 "owner" could race for free or at least reducded fee

Logs for guard rails? Board fences? I'm thinking there are street racing venues that are safer than that place looks! I'm all for nostalgia, but . . . .

Logs are probably better than these guard rails?

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK: TOP ELEVEN THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR AT WILDCAT DRAG STRIP

                  11. Splinters in your fire suit.

                  10. Probably more lead in the ancient paint than in race gas.

                  9. One of the few tracks where the alleged safety equipment actually helps fuel post-crash fires.

                  8. If "Deliverance" were to ever meet drag racing, this would probably be the place.

                  7. The guy in the next lane is almost as close to you as your girlfriend on Saturday night.

                  6. Ambulance-chasing lawyers waiting for a disaster probably outnumbers the actual fans.

                  5. George Ray's 2x4-look bleacher seats apparently inspired by taking the old saw "we sell you the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge" a little too literally.

                  4. Pit = shade tree.

                  3. Ozark alcohol racers who brew (and drink) their own fuel.

                  2. Roving flocks of woodpeckers.

                  1. Hurling your "track dog" after catching a glimpse of George Ray's u-g-l-y Olds-mo-rod.

That may explain how Ray managed to operate it for nearly a half-century. Or maybe it was the rabbit's foot and the four-leaf clovers . . . .

Something tells me, sadly, that even IF there is a buyer for George Ray's dragstrip.....the new owner(s) will be FAAAR too paranoid to operate it in the fashion that George did for all those years.

Hope to be proven VERY wrong.

                              LOL.

Don't you think it's slightly inconsistent with the claim that all street racing under any circumstances is categorically bad to look the other way on a place that's actually more dangerous than some street racing venues? Just askin' . . . . :D
