Hot chicks? I dig em'....that's why I married one.
BACK TO THE SUBJECT AT HAND....
So far I'm seeing:
Show flyers
Jay Leno/TV appearances
Magazine advertising
"Viral" spreading through message board posts
Word of Mouth
In my opinion the "Power Block" idea has some merit because the F-Bomb gets you in the door because they would use that as their "feature" car in between shows and it would allow you to plug the site a time or two.
Problems: All that junk is filmed in Tennessee I believe so getting there is one thing (although a road trip video would be sweet)
Personally, my belief is that the content is going to shine its way through and drive people to the site. All it really takes is ONE totally original, entertaining, maybe off-the-wall piece to get people to look, hunt around and make it part of their daily/hourl internet lap.
Leno....if you can brainstorm up an idea where he's doing something with the car (like the bit he did years ago driving the NHRA Pro Stocker with the toupees glued to the roof) it may work, but the reality is that DF is huge in the "We're huge in Japan" kind of way. We know and love him, but people outside of this automotive cult we're in just think he's a goofy bastard who wears flip flops whilst welding.
No bad ideas (yet)...but I'm thinking that there's a gem or two that has not made it to the surface yet.
leno idea is a good one, hes a junkie and so is DF.let him in the passenger seat of the 'Bomb and he will promote anything you want,or make him race it with anything he has and when he gets his ass handed to him say... "this is what we do at CJTV"
just my 0.02
I could use two more of the CarJunkieTV.com window stickers for my other two cars...Nearest place that I know that could make them is 250miles out :-\ I wear the open house shirt on my days off.
What about sponsoring a charity event? It could be a drive for life or something of the like. Similar to the walk/run/ride events that we see all the time but this one would be done with cars (obviously ;D)
All proceeds go to a children's charity or DF's charity of choice, you promote the hell out of it, and you get people/companies to donate a given amount for each mile driven. You let news stations know about it so that they can come and cover it, thereby getting "free" advertising.
You could even make it a cross country trip thereby furthering exposure across the nation, with a race at the end (Maxton?) The trip could be filmed for CarjunkieTV and be a win/win.
It would be a major undertaking, but it could/would be worth it in the long haul, not only with exposure to viewers but also with future site sponsers.

you find someone to pay for gas & I won't stop. con the oil companies into donating bookoo's.
My thought is where do you get a lot of views of advertising of people that would visit this site? Automotive mags, Racing Venues, EBAY Motors, TV. I think that EBAY would could give you the most visability with minimal effort from views, they are allready online. The way to get promoted is to build a bitchin Hot-Rod with or without donated parts, document it on the site with performance testing and how to's. Auction it off and give the cash to charity. Make it worth a little bit of cash, maybe get a pro driver or a celebrity or a veteran involved as a driver. Ask to get on the tonight show to promote it. Race it a time or two to promote it, Mabe get a magazine to cover one of the how-to sections to promote it. Cover all your bases at once.
I'm thinking maybe something like a business card that we could hand out.I mean i write it down for friends and stuff but ,for the chance people you meet at resterounts and gas stations and especially now that it's warming up in the mid-west,car shows. I suppose this coud work the same with stickers also ......do we have a way to get 50-100 or what we realisticly think we could pass out?
How did Hot Rod get so big? Content that people wanted to read, and placement on the news stand. It might take a little time, but if the content is worthwhile, the masses will flock. So far, so good on the content.
I wanna see the F-Bomb and Jr's Camaro parked side by side! They could have a contest to see who has the most chips in the paint. 8)
The official Bangshift garage door guru. Just about anything can be built using garage door parts, trust me.
