Absolutely fantastic! Congratulations to all involved. I too would have like to have been there to see that run.

not to be harsh, or diminish what they've done - but so far it's just a number, not a record, right? if it's not a record, then it's not history it's a footnote. One of those really cool (from the spectator's perspective) bits about Bonneville is all the guys who made a one-way run at record speeds, broke, then someone else runs both ways and gets the record... that said, if I were that guy who ran one-way, I'd be saying all sorts of bad words... but that's racing.

Once you've gotten enough footnotes, people quit whining about not setting records.
Remember Mickey Thompson? He was an awesome possum just like George and Ron.
They both have an excellent track record of speed, and will be remembered with respect.

no one is whining, I'm simply asking a question about calling it a record before it's actually a record. And I hope they're not the nicest guys in the world - after all, nice guys finish last.

and, as they are nice guys, what are you by jinxing it for them

To my knowledge, NO ONE has called it a record.
In fact, the only person who used the word record in this thread (up to now), has been YOU.
All we are doing is acknowledging their excellent performance.

                      awesome.

I bet the cams are timed to let it breathe (that was a funny for us retards in the real world)

I found vids from a month ago.. 426mph back then.

it is just a formality for the record...formalities suck sometimes.

note the word "history" to make "history" it requires you to set a "record" otherwise it's a "footnote"
