  • Remind me again, why didn't I buy a Corvette?!!

I get home, go into the house, have to run back to the garage to get something - there's anti-freeze across the floor.

I've complained to two different dealerships that the car smells like antifreeze... they tell me to pound sand... WTFH?!!!!

oh yeah, and it sounds like it's boiling inside the motor - which would explain the dropping of the cylinder (and their refusal to do a compression check when I pointed out the problem... they said "it's normal").... why can't there be more mechanics like Jim? (Spidey)!!!

Me: What is "You don't own enough gold chains or have enough chest hair?"

        Alex T.: Correct! For $300!

Me: I'll take "Middle Aged Madness" again for $400......

but if I were wearing gold chains, polyester pants, and an unbuttoned shirt, I wouldn't be waiting for the tow truck to haul this fine piece of Australian engineering to the dealership.

as for chest hair... umm, nope, not going there

well it might just be the intake gasket. not sure on the LS series but the 3800s dex-poo likes to eat the plastic gaskets that couse it to leak coolant into the cylindar

                The LS1 intake is dry.
Might be the water pump. I only got 80k miles out of the original one on the bird. I found a trickle of antifreeze running down the front of the engine during an oil change.

water pump was replaced the 3rd time I took it in with the same complaint - apparently, the 1st 2 times they didn't see the coolant weeping ... as I said, we need spideyman.... these mechanics could be replaced by monkeys and no one would notice a difference (okay, maybe then the cars would get fixed).... and complaining to GM does nada.

this time it seems to be coming out of the coolant tank - but not out of the top... there's probably a overflow under the plastic - I didn't bother looking.

You didn't happen to top off the coolant bottle before you drove it, did you??

has any of the dealerships bothered to pressure test it? Tell them it's the dusty snap-on box in the locked cage, they may have seen one in a picture book at UTI.

I haven't been impressed with dealerships much lately. Down here, at 3x same complaint, we call it a lemon and the dealership gets the opportunity to EAT IT. The consumers are getting fed up.

Huskinhano I believe is our guy who frequently brings this up and couldn't be more right. We don't encourage any kind of physical work in our schools as though it is beneath us or something. A lot of the kids in the dealerships just don't have that much experience. A lot of the rest don't want to touch it because, as Jim points out, the labor getting paid to the tech is Stooooopid low for the job.

Sigh. Let us know what turns up....

PRESSURE TESTER ISN'T A SHOP TOOL , YOU HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN
they also have strips that test for evidence of combustion chamber contamination and dye for fluid leaks

I've been complaining about this issue for awhile - even suggested directly to the mechanic a couple tests... they refuse to do the tests - not "didn't find anything" rather "won't test for that because you shouldn't be driving in 3rd gear between 4000 and 6000 rpms"

tell them to suck it and run the test and refuse to pay untill said test are run or ask for the manager
