    "spring" is here!
    ugh.

that burial cable sure is spendy isn't it?

I'm considering running a trench from the new house to the new shop to put in water, and run electric as well - saving the 10-15& increase as it's set up now with it's own meter which forces it to be billed as commercial instead of residential - can't have two meters on one address.

Good luck with everything! That hemi intake is going to be sweet!
There's always something new to learn.

Try to get the 2nd meter set up as a "hardship" meter..

It is the Aluminum Core TriPlex 4-0/4-0/2-0 and was $1.89 per foot. I bought 325' just to be safe on length and cost around $650 or so. Copper is $10 per foot - OUCH!

Got up early yesterday and my friend stopped by to help frame some more. We made alot of progress in 6 hours! Floor joists are in on my machining room side and we started to screw down the floor sheeting until we ran out of screws. Another hour on the floor and it will be done.

Lots of cleaning today! Got my remaining materials moved up to the upper level, swept/mopped the floor, and started to move a few pieces of equipment in to get a feel for the space.

                  Great work!

how did the i beam trusses compare to dimensional lumber as far as cost / size, I've never used those but always been interested in them.

I scored roughly 100ft of that same burial cable on craigslist for $125 - I will need it to hook up the 17kw generator at the new place - since the gas meter and generator location are on the opposite side of the house from the electric meter and panels.

I never compared the costs I was just told that the I-Beam style had a higher load rating so I went with those regardless of cost. They are much lighter as well so much easier to put in place!

It quickly becomes an apples to oranges deal in any thing longer than 10 ft or larger than 2x12. You defiantly did it right. I am a huge fan of engendered trusses and beams.

Well I have stopped buying stuff for cars I don't own. Is that a step in the right or wrong direction?

how do you gender a truss? wait... I really don't want to know

I think the word you were looking for was engineered

it doesn't look like you dig a ditch.... how'd you get the power in the ground?

Shaker spade that lays wire is my guess... Much like a ditch witch with a spool and a shaker that buries a knife with wire spooling out behind it..

Lines ran up to the house.

Grass seed and grass mat down thanks to my dad!

Wire to the back of my shop with the extra length.

Technology for the shop. I misunderstood what I was getting but I believe I have a shielded CAT6 cable instead of CAT5 like I originally thought.
