  • Some Fairlane fun

Here are some pics from the Bay City Roller reunion at Ubly Dragway on 10-7-12. Here is the back story, the owner of my Fairlane before my Dad got it for painting a truck in 1982 was Dave Justa a friend of his that raced it in the 60's and 70's along with his friend Gary. Gary now has a 64 Thunderbolt clone with a 500ci big block, Dave decided we need to have a match race and even built a ver cool trophy. The best part of the day was getting Dave behind the wheel of his old car, he had not driven it since the 70's and got a new personal best et he is still reved up from it weeks later. Going into this I was thinking I had a chance, but my car slowed from a best of 12:13 to now running 12:90's and Garys car liked the new trickflow heads and went from 12:20's to 11:50's but fun was had by all.

Very cool. Is there anywhere to get body parts for these cars? Like quarter skins, doors and front end parts? Fiberlass or steel?

The 64 stuff is pretty easy to get in steel or glass, crites makes pretty nice stuff hoods, doors, fenders and bumpers all in fiberglass. Floor patch panels sub frame rails and rear quartes for 64's are not hard to get. Anything not shared by 64's for a 63 is no out there. Would like to find full quarters for the 63 just not out there, found lower quaters once.

Those massive headers hanging so low on those Thunderbolts always got me.

Cool, been lookin for glass parts for what I want to do with my 64. It probably wont need floor patches and frame rails, because I am thinking tube chassis.
