I AM NOT SEXIST... I swear...

    But WOMEN.... UGH.

My lady friend calls me in a panic, her '09 Jetta is acting funny, arrived at her mom's, won't lock when she got out of the car...

Gets back into car, goes to put key into ignition, the KEY WON'T EVEN GO INTO THE DAMN IGNITION HOLE. AT ALL.

Car stuck in park, in front of garage, blocking her Mom in.

These two WOMEN tried 45 min worth of jiggling, wiggling, twisting, reading the manual, calling VW Roadside Assistance, calling Triple-A, locking, unlocking... NADA. NOTHING.

They called me... I'm on the computer, 300 miles away, furiously Googling VW forums looking for answers. She has to be at work at 6:30am.

Her Mom's boyfriend wakes up, gets off the couch, walks outside, says "lemme try".... gets in the car... and sticks the key in the damn ignition.

    FIXED.
Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

lol... you know, I have stories that top that... but the e-walls have ears and disseminating such stories will result in much hubris at chez SBG.

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Oh for the love of all that is good and mighty - you're preaching to the choir buddy! But we do all appreciate the creek you were up and the fact that no one on earth has that paddle.

Somehow - we're wrong - even 300 miles away it was your fault for not figuring out the fix.

          Yup - been there.
There's always something new to learn.

ODOT got some hybrids for upper management to use between offices... Lady (term used very loosely) had problems with her from the get go.. Dealer would pick it up, take it to the dealership, she would pick it up.. Be fine for a few days.. Thn problems again.. "Broke down" in the equipment/truck shop lot.. So the powers that be decided to have the mechanic look at it.. He sent h counter guy to get GASOLINE.. Problem solved! ... When she was told the HYBRID also needs gas.. She was flabberghasted.. "But I thought it doesn't use gas"....

I'm on my cell phone with my headset on from home Monday Morning on a conference call with the higher ups in IL. At the kitchen table. Wife leaves for work and all of a sudden I have no connection. She picked up my phone by mistake. Tried to call her on her phone from the house phone and no answer. She comes back 20 minutes later when she realized she had my phone when she kept hearing voices in the car and couldn't figure out where they we re coming From!!!

HA! I win! My woman can not only back up a trailer along with pulling it across many states, she is very adept at putting the key in the ignition.

                Yooper women rule!

Edit... to put some fuel on the fire...

Todd, you're assuming that the "light red" car is woman-owned and operated and that the black one didn't JUST unwisely drive in front of the pink one just as s/he was going for the same pump. There MIGHT be other possible explanations (or not).
