  • Finally, a Legit Technical Question

I drivel and dravel and babble about bullshit, now I've got something to really ask here.

    The DiabloSport i-1000 tuner.

I bought one to turn Red's traction control off for the road course (remember Red's weird, he doesn't have the button for that on the dashboard).

And while I was at it, I turned off the speed limiter. It was set at 140 - I'll never need that again, but...thank you Ford. Without that, Keith would have shown me the gate in Ohio and I didn't even know I had it.

A guy I work with is buying an 05 convertible Mustang GT, like TODAY. He had a red ragtop 65 when he was a puppy and when he saw Red in the parking lot, it lit his fire. He's been shopping ever since, found one in Knoxville. Red. Black and black.

Automatic (he wants his wife to be able to drive it). So I was telling him today about the tuner, you can put the 93 octane tune on it and that's good for 20 HP. And with the automatic, you can tell it how hard to shift gears and when (MPH, etc). Another guy at work said it worked wonders with the automatic, he had a GT for a while and used the tuner on it.

So, I said I already have a tuner and let me research what all it will fit. I got to looking this afternoon, and it'll talk to all kinds of rides. It'll even tune Bubba the Truck.

So I go to put the 87 octane tune on Bubba the Truck and it's nothing doing. It says VIN number (Bubba's number) is not licensed and no other licenses are available.

So I check the Diablo ad and it clearly says that you can use it on multiple vehicles, one at a time.

So I try to clear Red out of the tuner, and it won't let me. It says a real long key code and when I try to put that in it says I have the wrong password.

We'll need to clear the tuner for me to use it on Bubba or for my friend to use it on his Mustang. I've done some surfing and research and the general concensus is that the tuner comes with no directions, but there's lots of support available on forums.

This is a forum. Anybody got any idees?

It's all I can do to operate my Edge on Truck. If not for Russell I'd still be fiddling to turn it on! Sorry - I'd LIKE to help but I guess it's too close to a computer. But I'm pretty sure that Cstm has the plan.

It'll work on multiple vehicles but you are going to need to pay them for the tunes for each vehicle, I am pretty sure. If not, one guy would buy a tuner, tune 200 cars and the company would essentially be handing out 199 free tunes.
That which you manifest is before you.

Yeah, that's just about what I assumed, it makes business sense. That's the fine print they don't show, multiple vehicles, BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY.

            I'll bet that's it entirely.

You can not put the tune on two different cars/trucks, though you can re-install Red's stock tune and then go tune Bubba, but you can't have the tune on both of them at the same time.....

TC nailed it. You might call to see if they will sell an additional license lik HPTuners does

"The Trinity is the answer to all of your EFI tuning needs. Just one part number supports all vehicle application, which means you can tune multiple vehicles with only one Trinity (but only 1 vehicle can be tuned at a time)"

They refer to it as "Married to a vehicle" so I guess you have to give it a divorce. Takes all your shit and hauls ass with it. Sounds about right.

                  Alrighty, thanks guys!

I told my friend about the "Can't use my tuner" thing this morning and it turns out he's got more pressing needs. He got the car off the lot and it needs tires and there's a vibration in the front brakes with 94K miles on it.

So his very own tuner is a little farther down the road. He won't fall into the buy-it-all-right-now car horny attack that I had.

Your going to find even if you pull the tune out of Red,reinstall stock tune. The tuner will still be VIN locked to Red,have to get a new code from DS to add a secound vehicle.

That doesn't happen with my DiabloSport......

Got mine September-October of last year.

I don't mind it being glued to Red's profile. Was just gonna try to do something else with it for fun and curiosity.

With the 93 tune on Red, even for the price of the tuner, wow that's some relatively cheap horsepower. And easy, too. You couldn't pour 20 horsepower into the engine through a hole with a cap on it and have it be any easier to do.

Ya I got a Predator, so it might be different now, I even bought it used, so it was on someone else's car before mine..... Which reminds me I need to list it up on Ebay since I switched to HPTuners......
