    That was a cool lesson.

Got to thinking of leaf springs over to air ride for the rigs. It lays on squashy slow today..no matter the big power noises.

heck, even my sube is rattling someone in their sleep at 430 in the morning. Even the gear change is an echo. 10 minute warmup at 20F and below.. it will be time to keep the clutch in as it gets colder, waiting for whenever the heck it feels like spinning some shafts.

so much as changed for the wimp.

I'll go take a nap, sleepless night and bitching. I did get my milk for coffee this early AM.

edit: I bring up the sube, double digit horses ready to plull a small house down (1987).

    people gone wimp and stupid.

Mass and torque vs. speed (relatively high) and technology. Mass and torque wins - again.

I think my favorite detail is how much the smoke out the stack suddenly changes when the steam tractor starts pulling forward - seems like he wasn't on the throttle at all at the start.

for some reason, I just don't see Brian as a steam punk.... old truck punk, absolutely (requires coveralls and a greasy hat), but not steam punk

Not steam (much to my surprise). Sounds like a hit-or-miss. The Ackerman is all off, though - high speed handling has to suck.

High speed in a steam powered vehicle would be akin to running with nitroglycerin

The Stanley Brothers would disagree. But their suspension was better - no wagon steering. And the Doble was very refined.
