Re: I had an awesome day!!! Auto repair success

I was working on a six-pack carb set up at work, everything was going wrong, when I got them finished I put them on the dyno and tried to set the idle, then the battery went died and the motor died. Put on a low charge for the night and went home. Came in the next morning and rechecked everything and then started the motor. The idle and fuel to air all was good, everything worked just like it was suppose too. I freaked. The customer came to pick them up and I had left them on the dyno (forgot he was coming in that day) so we fired the motor up for him to see that 6 pack work, and man that made me feel real good when his eyes opened wide and he had a smile from ear to ear.

Important thing is to make sure the parts end up in the right place, BEFORE you get all the welding done. The guy who put the lower 1/4 on my 55 before I bought the car had it off by about 1/4", so I got to cut it out and do it over again.

I am patching, I have the 1/4 skins from that 65 I got from your friend...I figured I would try to repair them myself, if not I can get good whole skins for 100 bucks and I have a very good welder who can do the install for me...not worried about perfection..just want to get it a little less.....ugly

sheet metal is hard to find....years ago I bought a couple sheets of steel of different gages from a supply place in Phx, they shipped it truck frieght on a huge pallet. Not cheap. I think I tried in Tucson and couldn't find anything.
