What can I say? We don't have the bumper guard or spotlights, but we do have the beauty queen. Oh, and that gal sitting on the back with the funny hat...

I grew up in L.A. and admired low riders like any other modified car, the yearly ISCA show at the Long Beach arena was a regular "Dad please can we go" for me. Note the car we mostly drove there in was a white '59, but four-door sedan, that was my connection to the convertible we have now. As I'm sure the movie will show us (...when it comes out...if we go see it...), the traditional low riders are part of a more complex culture, for white guys you do it a little differently such as fat tires not 520's, and lay off the decorations like carved-out and chromed a-arms etc. Hydraulics...I am not into adjustable suspensions in any form, but that's a personal preference. Our old Chevy we picked up in '89 and restored ten years later is only springs and wheels away from stock.

Having the front and rear axles running at different effective ratios by means of different size tires is a great means of gaining traction.

Some guys go so far as to run actual different axle gear ratios. Those are usually strictly Sand Drag Machines, but there are some casual duners setup that way as well.

yep, if memory serves me right we used to run
a higher (numerically lower, like a 4.10 instead of a 4.88 )
gear in the front ends of mud boggers/sand draggers as
the faster wheelspin in front seemed to help "pull" the
truck straight.

finally got a remote shutter gadget.
ready for the maine event.
the sky has some shows.

manual focus
iso6400
.8 second shutter

I had a problem since my first cameras..
the long shutter and shaking it all into a blippy blur, even on a stand.
remote shutter helps this.

any more than .8 seconds, the star has moved itself to the earth spinning.
iso6400 did something just right.
