In 2001 I put together a 53 Studebaker, 509 BBC, 6-71, Enderle injector, Ford 9" 2.43 gear, powerglide with a Gearvendors and went 207 MPH. It was too high geared and would only turn 5600 RPM. The body was stock with a spoiler and an air dam. This might give you some idea. -

As impressive as running 200mph in a street/production type car is... I like the idea of running it in special contruction just because the amount of personality those cars have. That and the aero lets you do it with far less motor.
Honestly, If I had the time and resources I want to build the "oddliner" that's really a lakester but designed to fit pretty much any engine imaginable into it and just go for pushing ______ to 200+ mph. Not for SCTA/ECTA/xxTA records but the record of saying "I have the worlds fastest Willy's Go Devil at XXX.XXmph". First engines I'd do would be a Series II/III Buick V6 and either a Jag 4.0 or Volvo 3.0 I6's. Then hot rod the crap out of a a GMC V6 (the big ones) and an early Buick I6.Central TEXAS Sleeper

What kind of driving experience do you have, how much do you want to spend, do you want to do it at bonneville or in a mile type event? Do you want a 200club hat, or do you just want to go 200? All important questions to answer. The cheapest way is a motorcycle in maine.Comment

I mean the validity of doing it at one of those places would be awsome but I would do it anywhere, I plan on having a camera with me for any proof and nostalgia moments needed. I raced go karts as a kid the jr dragsters then I bracket raced and did a bit of street racing. I don't even know if me piloting the car is that big of an issue or justa ride along would prolly be good for nowComment

They don't allow "passengers" ... the driver only.Originally posted by brandontinley View PostI don't even know if me piloting the car is that big of an issue or justa ride along would prolly be good for now
I'd suggest you start by attending an event as an observer first.

Well I listed my driving experience, and I don't want to spend the money to build a car if I can just rent one. I don't know what I would spend cause I don't know what it would cost to do thatComment
