Yup! That is the life of a research scientist! We are frenetic and intelligent enough that we don’t have to break a sweat. We had technicians do that… even when it wasn’t a requirement!

Procured a new Horror Fright tool today. Well, tool is a bit of a stretch. It’s actually one of their welding tables that have the holes in a relatively heavy steel plate. Now I have to see where it is going to go in the already too full garage… if I like it, I might just get a second one and make a sort of chassis table. I have 2 sections of 2x4 tube that would make a good framework for such a project.👍 1Comment

Man! I wish the weather would break. You know that problem when you don’t want to turn on the heat in your garage for an hour or so before you can go out and get something done, and you just know that you won’t get more than an hour in on a project before you are needed inside for something else, and you just know that you might as well not even turn on the heater, and just stay inside and peruse the internet looking at adds for parts that you might need or want, and you end up buying more parts? Well, that’s what I’m dealing with right now. I mentioned the new welding table that I bought recently above. But I don’t think I mentioned that I saw some steering arms for the front spindles I’m using, and bought, even though I have a set of modified arms on the car now. For the cost of the original set I bought, I got another set but without my modifications, AND a set of really nice forged arms that drop the tie rod a couple of inches. These arms might not have to be modified at all. So I was feeling good about that purchase. But did I stop there?
Got some advertising from JEG’s, spend x and deduct y, xx and get yy off, etc. Then, get another ad from them about those coil over shocks that I had bought a set last fall, maybe late summer. And the price was right. So, put them in the cart. Then, and you know where this is going.
I had looked at NHRA approved door bar swing out parts, like Dan used a while ago. And they had reduced the price somewhat to entice me to procure them. Oh, and free shipping as I had passed the threshold for that. So all in all, I saved quite a bit of money. And spun the credit card into the stratosphere! Well, not that bad. But my whatever fund is significantly depleted and will need a month or two to recover.
Winter better end soon, that’s all I have to say…Comment
