I have a window-type AC but installed through the wall like in a cheap motel. Works pretty well especially if I fire it up in the morning before the sun starts heating the shop. Seems like it does better keeping the shop from getting hot than it does at cooling a hot space. NC has pretty high temps coupled with tons of humidity - swamp coolers do not work here.
