  • Yes. Narrow tires are better for traction.

    • American big cars are huge in Scandinavia, maybe Blazerteam has some advice on what they use in the winter?

      • It rained while at work earlier this week. Found my car floating in Lake Marshall.

Now you know where not to park your car.

          • It's where I parked when rained the week before. Just rained a lot more. Maybe, I was three farther to the left. Hard to tell on a gravel lot.

              • Scott, Ive had good experience with the firestone winterforce tires. used them on my crown vic, and not bad priced either.

do your cars stand out in town?

                • They get attention. But, there are a lot of classics around here.

But around here. Most people drive pickups. A nice car of any sort stands out.

                  • So (as someone else asked) how's the new gig? Hope you're having fun and doing meaningful work.

BTW - you need to change your location.

                    • FWIW Scott, The last time I had rallys on the chevelle, I ran 235/70/15 rear on a 15x8 and 215/70/15 on the front on a 15x7. looked decent, drove nice, and the tires weren't dedicated snows .... I'm seriously thinking of going back to a 70 series as well ...

                      • Tire rack has some good seasonal snow tire sales... or - with your car and 15" wheels - you could run all terrain or mud/snow truck tires on it pretty cheap.

                        • Back in our Michigan days we ran Blizzaks on ME's Merc station wagon. They worked GREAT. I don't know if they're still made.

Not sure how long ago that was, but 15" 70 series tires are getting pretty thin in selection ... don't recall seeing a 235/70 listed on tirerack...

                            • used to run goodyear wrangler 30X9.50R15 all terrain tires on stock offset wheels in the winter on the base at North Chicage... mudflaps required though...

ditto on changing the location as west LA really doesn't do winter!

                              • A couple of 5 gal buckets (with covers) filled with sand puts some weight over the rear wheels to help with traction. The sand also helps out if you get hung up on ice and need a little more traction.
