(Looking sheepishly at the ground) - I'm sorry, Scott. I'll try to do better next time.

mine are riveted and it is an east coast car the A arms are not too rusty but I suspect those joints are original to the car.....my trucks ball joints pressed out and in like nothing..cake....but this thing fights me every freaking inch...so I am gonna bleed, it is going to get a new dent from my fist or a tool and sooner or later one of us will win...

        Re: Rebeldryver's '70 Caprice Granny's Luxo-Muscle-Barge

I've got about 400 miles on her now and the engine feels like its settling in. It idles stock smooth, but pulls like a freight train.

I'm not sure I like having such a smooth idle. Part of me wants to shove a stick in it with more lopey idle. I know I can't go hog wild with the heads I have; not to mention needing enough vacuum to operate the heat/AC and brakes.

Right now, the money isn't there to rip into the engine again. The best self control I can have is to keep my nose out of cam catalogs.

what converter do you have in the trans? what gears out back?

Try lowering the idle speed more.....

vacuum canisters really can help you out with engines that have low vacuum.... (just trying to help here ;))

I was thinking of operating rpm of the drivetrain. It would be fun to pop some 3.73s in back, and a 2500 stall converter in it, along with more cam. Not like Scott drives it long distances, he has the Imp for that

ya know, in LA it's a lot of stop and go traffic, maybe 4:56s would be better suited for the traffic/driving down there ;D

I could richen up the idle mixture too, but its self defeating to driveability.

The convertor is stock and the gears 3.31's.

You probably have the perfect cam in it now. How about getting an 8 track of something with a killer motor, and play it when you feel the urge? ?)

The dude in the overpriced Euro crap Aston Martin was sure surprised by it's accelleration. He even rolled down his window to try hear something.

Don't ya just LOVE times like that?

I'm not sure there's a better sense of accomplishment in a hot rodders life than blowing the doors of a store bought high priced car driven by some douche bag that thinks he's all that and a bag o' chips.

                                nice work Scott!
