I did not mind doing it, it was a great buy, we got an amazing deal and now 4 out of the 5 of us have a nice stable home......the down side is now I wont be able to buy myself a home until she refinances it...(hopefully she gets approved in 6 months). We get along great and all that but...we are not living together...and we live on different sides of town...and...well....you get kinda lonely...and I find myself doing shit for her all the time..She relies on me way to much and she refuses to make a decision on where our relationship is going so...I'm looking to help move that along so to speak.

Well, that was a bit of insight into the life of Joe you were not expecting, eh?

Been driving the car all day...it's black, it's 100 degrees, it's hot and sweaty and loud and stinky and I friggin love it....it's so gawdamned ugly yet I still get thumbs up from people and comments a-plenty about how cool it is...makes me feel good considering how much blood and sweat I've put into a car that should have been in a scrap yard...

I don't think she will make a decision as long as you are still at her beck and call. You may need to push the subject, or just be "busy" next time she needs something. Don't fall for the guilt trip using the kids for pressure.

Oh, it is nothing like that...no guilt trips or manipulation....it's a very positive separation. We get along better now that we did for years under the same rood....But the fact is she wanted learn how to be independent, cant do that when you have a crutch...she's a good person...we just cannot live under the same roof...to very alpha personalities and 2 very different goals in life....I am about being comfortable and happy and she wants stuff...I don't want stuff...stuff costs money...I like old and she wants new...anyway...I digress.....

Luckily, ME is mostly OK with old stuff. Hence, me! I still think she settled and I know she married down but if she's content I can live with that.

Hard to know what you're getting when you find a lady who will have you...... After 3 tries, I got lucky. Hope you get a more direct path.

I've been driving the old girl as much as possible lately. There are a few things I need to tinker with. First is the carb, I still need to mess with either the shooters or the accel pump. I feel that it is a accel pump issue. I do not think it is giving it enough gas. From the literature I read if I hit the gas and it goes then bogs and then goes again it is an accel pump...not big enough to supply the fuel the engine needs. I am going to order a 50cc and see what happens. Second, I really need to swap out the cam but I figure while I am in there I may as well swap the damn gearbox as well...it leaks terribly and I don't like leaks....

Anyway, thought you all might dig some before and afters. My mini-me has been taking photos like crazy...

                    looking good!

If the cam is "flat", it will make it hesitate, no matter how much fuel you give it.

you body hammer - actually, those aren't terrible as raw material, but unless you want to make more work for yourself in your metal work,

notice how the face is convex? when you whack with the face like the one on the right, you'll give yourself lots of squeeze marks from where the edge of the hammer hit the metal. If you make the face like the one on the left, you don't get sharp edges striking the metal - thus, no marks. Best of all, the metal will move in an easily-controlled manner. The issue with the HF hammer is it's almost an art to make a face convex - so they just grind them flat. That said, the metal itself isn't bad and the handle is robust so it could be made to be a decent, entry level hammer.

the trick is to find one with a face that's mostly flat, but with a nice gentle radius around the edge. The first one I got (in 1977) is like that, all the others I have acquired over the years are too flat. If a guy were to put it in the lathe, he could fix it, I suppose.

If your carb has any bigger squirter than a 35, then the problem isn't the squirter. Don't spend money on a 50cc accel pump. Just get a pump cam kit. Get rid of the tiny red one, most carbs come with. Put an orange or a dark green one in. Next, readjust the pump arm. Take out the slack in the arm to the cam, then make one turn farther, making the screw spring taller. Check squirter actually squirts at the slightest movement of the linkage.

^^^ what Scott said x 2, especially squirting at the SLIGHTEST movement of the linkage.

Think squirt first, and throttle blade movement second.....that kind of "slightest".

Funny how 50cc is the "answer"
Many used the smaller in pretty robust applications.
                                I'll X2 Scott's answer.. TUNE IT!
