i got a fiberglass trunk lid ok and it has an eletric trunk pop opener... my qustion is how could i go about hooking it up, it had a ground wire and a power wire that is suppose to go to the switch now when me and my dad went to hook it up it just blew fuses. what can i do for it to work and not blow fuses.

how big are the fuses it blows? and how big is the wire coming out of the popper solenoid? they usually take a lot of current.

I saved a popper, strange ground. the point on the end was the ground.
is the glass trunk lid throwing it into a short?

Yeah thats were I was heading. It may be trying to use the positive as the ground also.

                Think this needs a relay?

I also think that a relay would be a good idea... how about attempting to bench test with an ammeter to see what the amp draw is so you get a large enough relay...

All the trunk or door poppers I've done all went through a relay and module, with the button or key fob controlling the ground side of the relay.

I put a elec trunk popper on my Rampage bed cover (alum) and when I
tested it for what the amp draw was it was 15 amps peak... I didnt bother
to put a relay on it but I am using a 25 amp rated switch.. the few times I
tried it it worked fine.... by the way it was a GM trunk lock off a Buick or Chevy
