Better to find it now then have it leave you stranded on DW.

Strange - typically coils either work, or they don't.
I've never had a coil just quit... but had a few that caused a
miss, usually in the upper RPM range... heat does some strange
      stuff to electronics

Interesting stuff. I guess the old round coils are the way to go?

Tis the season. My Skylark's coil up and quit on me last month, right in the middle of a long drive on an empty road. I'm in the process of replacing one of them with EIGHT, that ought to spread the odds some, lol. I'm leaving the HEI cap/coil in place and the MSD box is just a few connectors away from being re-installed if trouble pops up.
              Escaped on a technicality.

glad it was an easy fix! looking forward to seeing that gto in person. I was starting to think I had a bad 6al plus until Friday. turns out I hooked my control power to an ignition power that cancelled during cranking.... cheap fixes are my favorite ones!

And that's why I carry a spare ign box. Magnetic pickup and coil. Also picked up a spare grid 7730 box since I would have to do a ton of rewiring for the nitrous without it.

i threw in a whole distributor last year. good thing, because the ignition module died in conway. luckily before i tried to cross traffic on the 4 way.
