  • Thoughts about Power Tour Cities for 2012.

I have looked at the start and the finish an I think this will be close.

Its a Route 66 Trip. From Chicago to Oklahoma City all Route 66.

    1. Detroit Mi. (somewhere)

    2. Stanton Mi. to Mid Michigan Motorplex (155 miles).

    3. Route 66 Raceway, Chicago-land Speedway, Juliet IL. (240 miles)

    4. St. Louis, Mo. Busch Stadium.(260 miles)

    5. Springfield Mo. Expo Center. There are Three Drive-ins, Sunset, Owen and Kenda. Wednesday Drive-in.
Nice Power Tour Drive-In Movie full of Hot Rods ( 216 miles)

    6. Oklahoma City, OK. Tinker Air Force Base (The Military would love the Power Tour) (285 miles)
Thursday Bowling- AMF Sunny, Holiday or Planet Bowling Lanes.

    7. Texas Stadium Arlington Texas. (212 miles) Total 1386 Miles.

    Just my thoughts.

Family Events would make more dollars if they had the Hooters Girls selling Chicken Wings.

Detroit, MI to Indianapolis Raceway Park (293 miles) Goes through Toledo and Ft Wayne, and had estimated 4,000 cars at 2:30pm in Indy.

Indianapolis Raceway Park to St Louis, MO (250 miles)

St Louis, MO to Joplin, MO (287 miles) Can we find a way to help them? PT brings $ to a city, would they be able to host us, or at least nearby? Start asking them (city officials) NOW.

Joplin, MO to Oklahoma City, OK (217 miles)

Oklahoma City to Dallas TX (207 miles)

Helps a city in need (Joplin) and is a total of 1,254 miles

The way Indy treated the tour this year, I would not go back. Closed the gates early, cops who sat in their cars watching the traffic pile up, and then get out and give grief about turning the wrong place. Yeah nice welcome there.

I like the idea of helping Joplin, MO out a year from now. Somehow make it a lunch stop for $10 put on by the city if they can't host an actual stop. I am sure they can get food donated to them and locals cooking, then have a sponsor match the money they make. HMMMMM

well, the first stop is still Detroit; Muskegon for the second; tour ends, supposedly, in Arlington, TX (Cowboys Stadium, but now it might be Rangers Ballpark, adjacent.....); in between......who knows? I had thought they would make a stop at Route 66 raceway in Joliet, IL, then another stop in Missouri......maybe a stop in Little Rock.....

Well, where ever the middle stops are, at least we have a pretty good idea of the beginning and ends...
