Actually, at a highway cruise, there is only a 300 rpm difference between the two. They may be so close there is not much difference between them at the track.

then it just needs MOAR of everything! Compression, Cam, Gear, everything! we've been through this 3.90 thing before I think. It worked out to be the ideal gear for one of my "it'll never happen" cars.

Haha yeah. I think I will put the 3.90's in it and see what it does. Heck I can always swap back.

I tried that....and went back to 3.25 gears

That's a lot of work, do you want it to be faster on the street or are you just trying to drop your track time? If the latter put a 200 shot on it. I love freeway gears you need a gear venders.

Run a shorter tire to see what it feels like at the top end...

A trick we use is to put donuts or 14's on Caddies. Makes the small block sing with it's 12:1 compression.. Unlike 700X15's which makes it bog.. Try short tires then decide if you wanna swap gears or not...
