Have you thought about running a front valance? I am installing one off of a late 80's ranger. Its not a bolt on deal some cutting, creative thinking, and some luck but I think it will work with some bracing in the center.

I don't know if it would help with your application. But would think it would direct more air up and in the radiator. Might help keep the front down at speed.
Just thinking in the outside box.

Yes, I take it off at the track! If I had a cowl hood, I would definitely go with a much larger filter.

The valance or spoiler is a double good idea, more air to radiator, less under car, less drag, more MPH. Next cold air kit, worth real power vs. pulling hot air from under hood. Amazing to see IAT's fall as you head down track. 1% for every ten degrees. At Amarillo for DW I saw a 30* drop from launch to finish line. DA the day we were there was reported 5290 at 10 AM.

Bill, this car still has the cold air tubes in the fenders. All I have to do is connect them to the carb/air cleaner somehow. Hasn't been a real priority just yet though.

Been doing a lot of reading about getting Mustangs to hook and about cooling on the highway/low pressure/high pressure etc.

The bottom of my radiator is right at the bottom of the front valance and I think it could really benefit from having some sort of air dam below it to help create a high pressure area in front and a low pressure area behind. This is a normal thing for OEM's to do. Just looking in my driveway last night and my wife's Mountaineer has one. Makes me wonder if an 84 GT nose would work better than this 83.

I think raising the nose (front fender lips are 3" lower than rears) will help the cooling by giving the air a straighter shot at the openings below the bumper, plus it will give me room for some sort of a valance under there.

Are the lower rear control arms parrellel to the ground?

The best starting point should be the front pivot slightly higher than the rear.

Level is second best.

Front lower than rear is no good at all - puts the instant center somewhere under and in front of the car, completely unloading the tires.

(I really really like the idea of adding an air dam. Even a small one will work wonders, have cured some hair-pulling overheating issues just by adding a simple home-brewed sheet of whatever was available.)

Front pivot is 10.25" from ground.
Rear pivot is 9.75"

So lower arms are 0.5" angled up in front.

I have not measured the cam height or the upper control arms yet. Might do that at lunch today.

The '93+ Rangers have a slick little scoop mounted to the bottom of the rad. But they are likely much more narrow than the Mustang rad. It's an idea.

More lunchtime mechanicing. Pulled the old springs out and hopefully I will put the others back in tomorrow unless they set the nose way too high. Shooting for about 2" of lift.
