WOW. What a difference.

Drove the car back to work after lunch today and the difference in valvetrain noise is tremendous. Much much quieter now. In addition to clearancing the rockers (a move I now know was unnecessary because BBFs *should* have 2.2" long stud girdle polylocks instead of the 2.0" ones mine came with..... live & learn grrr) I tightened the lash 0.003". I have found the lash grows 0.005-0.006" when hot, so that was putting them in the 0.021" range where they were quite noisy. Now they are much happier sounding when warm and my mind is more at ease. haha

On an unrelated note, I hate how nose high my car looks now. I must change it.

I know I know. I do like being able to get a jack under it. I don't think I will go back as low as it was, but this 4x4 stance is killing me.

So how did the slicks work compared to the tires you'd run previously? Sorry about the miss shift - did you get any good runs in?

That was on the MT Drag Radials. That was the night I took the slicks with me and found they did not fit.

I think I am going to have to rebuild the trac-lok in this diff with the alternating clutch stack and an extra clutch like I did the last one. I might just pull the one out of the other diff and swap it in.

I pulled the trac-lok out of the old diff at lunch and I have to reiterate that cordless impact guns are totally freaking awesome.

If you don't have one, you need one.

Swapped out limited slip units Saturday evening. Doing this in the driveway on your back sucks, but it is done. The old one was starting to just spin one tire on occasion. The new one is out of the other diff that I rebuilt with alternating clutches and steels. It works very good. Should have done this when the diff was out of the car, but you know how that goes. lol

Did you check the pattern on the gears after the swap? Did it require any adjustments?
