    DAF Raincoat

Yesterday while surfing the internet, I came across this car. It’s a 1943 DAF Raincoat. Built in the Netherlands during the war, it was made to be driven through a doorway so it could be hidden from the Germans. I don’t know if it was a serious production vehicle or not, I personally think it is a car with potential. Okay so it’s only 3 wheeled. That can be fixed. . .

How about a land speed car? Stretch it out a little bit, okay so maybe a lot, like 10 feet. With some creativity I can see it with some sort of pontoon front fenders to streamline it.

Or set up for drag racing. Picture Fiat Topolino left in the dryer for too long.

Maybe a hot rod. Same thing as the streamliner except not 10 feet longer. Just enough to get an engine up front. Maybe cycle fenders for the front. And widen the rear fenders to cover the rear tires.

So I’ll stop throwing out my ideas. Let’s see what everyone else thinks about this. Probably a million ideas, so have at it

I did, at least my tablet showed the 2 pictures of the car. But you know me, computer illiterate guy! I have pictures on my screen. Did you add them, or is it just on my tablet?

What’s not to like about this car? Stretch the nose a bit, add fenders like a Cord, but to scale, and some sort of inline engine, again to maintain scale. I can see it in my head… and that’s the problem!

But that’s the reason why I’d like one. Not even a clown car. So yeah, it would need some work to make it a 4 wheeler, maybe a little tube front axle or possibly an A-frame front suspension from a 4-wheeler, which probably would be overkill. I could see putting wheels that fit an original Austin Mini on it. 10-inch diameter by 6-inches wide. And good tires are available for them. And think of the exclusivity that it offers. Who but one of us would even think about a car that seats only one?

So, if we have friends in Europe and could find one that isn’t trashed, I would think about it…

maybe it would be better as a pitbike?

Seems like a restomod would be the way to go! Get a Yamaha Raptor (or similar 4 wheeler) and put the body on it!

                            There is ONLY ONE.......
                            It was a Prototype.
But that doesn't stop anyone from making
another one of their own modifications.

Sorry, my shop is full of projects already.
Someone Else can tackle building something like it.

Come on ! That thing is the very definition of a clown car . I think it would be best used as a golf cart in a town like Peachtree, Georgia that has trails all over town for them .
