I'm guessing I'm not the only one in this crowd who's gotten fed up with being the host to other folks projects, helping lots of folks, and not always getting much in return.
I'm all about the golden rule, don't get me wrong.
However, it seems this time of year especially, my phone starts ringing with requests to use my hoist in my heated shop for other folks projects.
Last weekend it was the neighbors '74 vette suspension parts in the sandblaster, (I left him there to do his thing).
A couple Saturday's ago it was rear brakes, seals, bearings, ebrakes on a DD '00 Explorer.
Monday night I got a call from a guy I'd not talked to in probably a year - wondering if he could put his DD up in the air to do a bunch of suspension work.
Where do you draw the line?
Do you charge money for use of your stuff?
Do you ask for tools? Supplies?
With everyone's crazy schedules these days - getting help when I need it is a real challenge, and more often than not - other folks stuff is getting done in my shop with my tools while my stuff waits.... I'm not liking this trend.
How have ya'll handled this?
I don't want to be THAT GUY who doesn't help anybody out.... but I'm tired of my stuff not getting done.
