Good old Pop, the 1919 version of the Energizer Bunny

The V is a stick, so not too much off topic.

In the past, taking dad to Sacramento for doctor's appointments was about all the driving he could take in a day, about 60 miles. I was surprised this morning when he asked "are we still on for Yosemite"? Since getting the V, he has been able to cover more ground, Tahoe, Reno, North Shore, Hwy 88, but Yosemite is 140 miles one way on very windy roads. Well today, not only Yosemite was no problem, he asked if we could go home via Tioga Pass at 9462' then on to 395 and Nevada, then 88 W to 89 N and on to 50 westbound. I asked if he was sure about this and told him how long that will take, he said "lets do it". We were in the car today from 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM. I guess he is good for any drive now. The V was the right car for me to drive and him to ride.

That's cool. Glad the V is bringing you more joy than just the automotive experience. Looks like it was a good day to be in Yosemite too.
    Escaped on a technicality.

That's awesome. Every guy ought to spend a day like that with their Dad, no matter what the age/circumstance.

two cool pictures for sure and good for you! You needed to raise his power seat in that second picture though. My Dad has a year on yours, he was born in 1918. I round tripped him to Columbus (600 miles) about a month ago to visit relatives but that was about his limit for a one day trip.

I used to run down to pick Mom up in FL and drive her up to NC. We'd do it in 2 days in the Dakota and I think she liked the trip. One time we stopped in Savanna and did some touring - took longer but well worth it. Another time when we were still in Michigan she and I put the top down on the 'Stang and drove to Traverse City. We had no agenda, no reservations, etc. - just cruising. We stopped and bought a bag of Bing cherries (Traverse City is famous for them) and eat 'em while spitting the pits out of the open car. I always wondered if we were like the Johnny Appleseed of cherries, planting new trees as we went.

Anyhow - GREAT that you're having these experiences with your Dad. Some day he'll be gone and I can assure you that you WILL treasure these memories.

Russell, you going racing with your Dad is pretty cool, too. Again, making memories for those times when that's what you'll have left - although I don't think your Pop is going anywhere in the near future!

The chipmunk held out for OT peanuts. Good news on the 1918 Dad still enjoying drives. This is about the only time I get to even drive the V, had it over 2 months, driven it a total of 8 days.

Reno's Hot August Nights. Glad you guys accept the V on the forum, I got the stick just for this forum, haha (and also of the 60,000 CTS produced in model year 2011, 1800 are Vs, and out of that 1800, about 180 are sticks, so for investment also. the auto is faster 0~60 but top speed is limited to 173 mph, 191 mph for the stick)
