There is a wild fire about 25 north of Ely right now that was started as a controlled burn by the forestry service and now is several times larger and out of control. Started a week and a half ago. Fortunately there isn't much around there structure wise.
    Escaped on a technicality.

Man, what a crappy deal - all those homes being burnt up and families with no place to go. The rest of you BSers hang in there!

Yeah, it's a mess. There is a lot to it, and the drought and hot spell aren't helping things. We had a similar situation here last year, and we didn't even have any logging issues to blame. Hang in there guys, help each other out as much as you can, and you'll get thru it.

My daughter and her friend went and bought several boxes of popsicles ..... we have a baseball tournament going on at Columbine HS this weekend. The kids are going up there and sell the popsicles for $2 each and then they are giving the money to red cross, etc. I told them at the end of the weekend, I'll buy all that are left from them .....

Kids these days!.... How in the world did a 12 and a 10 year old figure this out ..... bless their hearts!
Whiskey for my men ... and beer for their horses!

umm, it's friday and I'm especially dense on Fridays - perhaps you could rewrite this with an eye towards these questions.
              1) why do you think this is a scam?
              2) what t-shirt?
              3) Where are the FAQs on the site?
              4) where did you see $6.00?

              thanks

                      Maybe so....
Here in OR they burn in the spring after lots of rain over winter... Middle of piles are dry, once they are lit, they burn rather hot and quick.... Using that logic... It makes no sense to me..

Yeah, fire season is more of an August-October time here. But this one has the mountain on the horizon looking like a volcano.

I always chuckle when I hear the term "controlled burn" because it's an oxymoron.

Around here they decided to call them "prescribed burns" because someone finally figured that out.

I haven't seen anything bigger than the C-130's hitting the fire on the news. I'm wondering why they havent brought out the big boys for this one yet, the DC-10's and 747's.

They waited here on the Station Fire and a lot of homes paid the price. I've never understood why they wait until is giant and out of control to bring out the big guns. As a governor, I would've been screaming for those a week ago.

Bam - Give those sweet kids a hug from Grandpa Dan! Just about the time you figure the world is going to Hell in a handbasket kids like this turn up and make it all better. Do they have any sugar-free? I'll take a dozen.
