To be honest, I trust Randy's opinions more than Scott's. He owns: http://www.rmcompetition.com/ and is more of a race engine guy. He does the Engine Master's thing just about every year.

"large cam" .. yeah, the kind that has numbers at .050 like the advertised numbers on the junk I look at!

Randy is a bad influence, just like you. ha! Good grief, all I wanted to do was throw a bucks down 460 in a truck. Go EFI they said, it'll be easy, they said... lmao. I need to get this mamby cam pile of parts running before it turns into Project: Scope Creep. The temptation to cut the seats, 2.11 / 1.77 Pontiac RA IV valves (that's one of Randy's contributions), and breathe iron dust for a week is strong. I'm also fighting the urge to have them cut .030, cheap compression. Then it needs more cam, then it needs more valve spring.. then there's the whole stroker battle playing itself out in my skull. THANKS! lol... totally kidding, this is the stuff I enjoy thinking about.
I think Randy is the guy who said "Most of the time when people ask for advice, they have already made up their mind and are just looking for approval" or something like that. I kind of laughed at myself and thought "Guilty." I'm in between the 4500 RPM camp and the 6800 RPM camp, but mine will definitely be twenty plus degrees of duration more tow truck like than yours, at least this time.
Are you going to hang those pistons or do you use a shop for that?Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

Who doesn't grin when they hear 6800 out of a 501 inch mill? I'd love to see pictures of the port work done - I would put money on them being 8 to 10 pounds lighter than where they started. I'm actually very excited to hear they have enough potential to need a Victor and a Dominator!
BBR's deal has more flexibility in it than my landscaper truck does... except for those LSR gears. Gak. By the time it gets up on the cam, he's gonna be going 80. haha.

I have been flip flopping about using the motor plate. These cars have a lot of plumbing along the front frame rails, brake lines, ac lines, hydroboost lines that will make using it a bit more complicated than the 83GT was. I am currently keeping my eyes open for a used tubular K or a Fox body k-member to swap in because my BBF mounts work with them. The sucky part is, I have had 2 stock fox k's in my possession in the past and gave BOTH to the local scrappers because I never thought I would want or need them! Oooof.
As far as the motor plate goes, I might trim it down and still use it to mount accessories. Not 100% decided on that, but it is something I am considering.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Well that didn't take long. Lol. I put some feelers out for a Kmember and a buddy has an AJE that he is no longer using. Only caveat is that AJE's use their own engine mounts, but they do sell BBF mounts for $80. Or I could make my own.

Picked up the K after the Ford V. Buick shoot out. I am going to use the K with the stock springs, control arms and power rack.
